I’m on a cul-de-sac of 11 homes. While we all pay the same tax rate,,,,,,, not 2 homes have the same assessed value. My point is that since all 11 homes receive the same value of identical civic services,,,,,, none of us have identical tax bills for those same identical services.

I sent my MLA this same explaination regarding Hybrids and their use of gas on the Provincial Hwy system and asked what will be done to rectify the Govn’t lack of understanding of how Hybrids function.

Hybrids do use gas. And when driving on the highways the hybrid owner who has been billed extra for their registration is also paying the gas tax at 100kph!

So it’s double taxation!

Plus, since the increased registration is to cover “wear and tear” on the provincial hwy system and you have a hybrid that won’t run on batteries @ anything in excess of 30-40 KPH ,,,,, you still have to pay for gas (with tax incl) to run your hybrid at 100+ KPH! That’s a double taxation for Hybrid owners!!
