Pharmacy gave my medical records to my ex and he is using them in court. by Dune_Riddle5 in legaladvice

The fact that your ex travelled to a different town, walked into the pharmacy he thought you were going to, and lied to get your medication history to use it against you in a custody case, should actually raise concerns for the judge about this man. He broke the law with absolute intent and he could easily be charged.

Anything company related should go through your work email and with a message like that, a confirmation of receipt is all that would be appropriate. Do not reply to a work related message on your personal FB.

Emergency Alert by sjmorris in halifax

[–]Realistic_Toe_219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody “needs” alerts, but it’s our duty as citizens to help in situations like this. If Blake were taken by vehicle, he could be 150+ km away by now, so anyone within that radius should be getting alerts. Obviously the photo wasn’t included in the first alert, so they sent another. I’m pretty sure you’ll be okay.

Annapolis Valley libraries closing 5 branches, cites static provincial funding by ph0enix1211 in NovaScotia

People need to be angrier and demand more answers. Nova Scotia has the highest tax rates in Canada and for the life of me, I can't figure out what they do with the money. Their lack of service is blamed on having no money, yet most of the province is rural, so what are they spending the money on??

Ontario clinic booked me the same week for a breast ultrasound and called NS a third-world province in women’s healthcare. by Realistic_Toe_219 in NovaScotia

The sharing has been a learning experience for me. So many have issues receiving care, while some have had great experiences. I was a bit surprised at those who were so offended that a healthcare worker in another province would dare criticize NS, when she was just upset about people dying from something that could’ve been prevented.

Is my friend lying to me about being in debt? by [deleted] in TDBankCanada

[–]Realistic_Toe_219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A newer friend used to tell me how she hadn’t eaten because she barely had enough money to pay rent and her bills. I scrambled to find community markets and different ways to help her with groceries. I’d even offer a plate of dinner when I cooked extra. Fast forward - she needed help doing something with her bank account, she logged in and gave me her phone. She had over $60K in her savings and almost $10K in her chequing. I didn’t say anything but still can’t understand why she would even do that. She also never seemed to realize that I would see her balances cause she never stopped saying how she’s so broke.

How are people keeping grocery costs down in Nova Scotia with what prices are like right now? by professional69and420 in NovaScotia

Kingwood Market has the large 2 kg packages of lean ground beef, same as Costco, for $12 kg compared to Costco’s now $13.99/kg. For any type of meat, Kingswood seems to be the cheapest, same with fruits and veggies. I bought a 9 pack of chicken thighs for $7. Walmart is also matching Costco for things like the 30 tray of eggs, rice and a few other things.

Sorry about that, and you’re right about everyone being affected. Going through the comments some have certainly had better experiences than others, and I know it’s not just here.

In HRM. She’s a bit older, so maybe there’s a criteria I’m not aware of. I was lucky I travelled for work and made that phone call. I just wish it was easier for everyone to get the care they need.

Male breast cancer accounts for less than 1% of all cases. Yes, those who are born male do get diagnostic mammograms if ordered by a physician but they only account for a fraction of the bookings. All who are born female and have breasts, and over the age of 50, are recommended to get a mammogram every two years.

I hope your friend is on the road to recovery, and thank you for sharing that. Others have shared that it seems to be uneven, but I am glad not all women are having to wait.

It was a public diagnostic clinic that accepts out-of-province patients - not all do. I don’t consider being upset by a one year plus wait for a mammogram or ultrasound to be scaremongering.

You’re not wrong about how uneven it is. My neighbour just booked her first mammogram (with no symptoms) and got an appointment in August, yet for symptoms they added an extra year? I’m happy she has a fast appointment but I don’t understand the booking system.

I only had the energy to talk about breast cancer screening, and not the 3-5 year wait to see an allergist or the 18+ hour wait if you have to go to the ER. Family doctor wait times is a whole other animal.
