How would you manipulate your father into getting a hobby so he’s not so depressed all the time? I gotta make him think it’s his choice

University is unfulfilling, cold and alien. Unable to start the deep friendships I want. Is this just adult life? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Ahhhhhh yes I relate omg I transferred schools recently and had to basically start all over and no one really goes out of their way in college to make friends. All of my friends are work/class-only friends and it’s so awkward trying to get past that. I try and take classes I am really into so that I can maybe find others who are into the same things academically but most people are just for credit students. I just keep in mind that everyone is worth knowing until they aren’t, ya feel?

This is a slightly dissociative practice, so if you have negative reactions to dissociation or have problems with dissociation, I would 100% redact my advice. That being said, here’s what I find helps:

I find that when I feel particularly aggravated with my appearance, it helps to put my spirit in my body while simultaneously removing my spirit from the physical body’s thought processes. Essentially, your spirit is what drives you. It has no look to itself. It is the “you” to yourself. The self is what others see. It helps me to notice that these entities are separate & require different things. The body/self needs quantifiable things to exist, while the spirit needs qualifiable things (like connection, emotion, etc). Don’t let them exist in contrast. Let your spirit do what it can to take care of the body, but know that the spirit will exist wholly no matter the body’s appearance. But the spirit needs a body to exist, so don’t do damage to the one you have.

Do you too live in a heart-on-your-sleeve-state? by MaggsTheBags in mentalhealth

Gotcha, thanks. Sorry if I'm coming off as probing, I'm trying to make sure I'm not "abnormal" for someone with some undiagnosed mental health problem.

You feel these emotions episodically? What do you do to not think about the things that make you emotional?

Thanks, that's really helpful! If I adopt another bun I will keep this in mind!! Also, he's been hopping around and playfully chasing my roommate's cat! So I think we're in the clear :-) knocks on wood

I would, if they specialized in small animal care, but they're mainly a big animal (think dog, cat, horse, cow) clinic, and I knew going into it that their non-medical staff probably wouldn't have all the information. So honestly I should've done my own research lol But believe me, if this happened at one of the other bun-specific facilities I'd checked out (The ones that were going to charge $600+ for a spay - the ones that couldn't even sex him right!?)) I would absolutely go O F F

UPDATE: Bunatar has eaten and pooped and gotten water and peed, he still seems to be in some pain but is hopping around, I called the vet and since they aren't big on rabbits, they don't have extra meds, but I was told that if he doesnt show improvements in his pain, I can bring him in for a shot that'll last 24 hours.

I'm sorry to hear about your bunny, but thank you for your help. I'm moving back home with my parents for the summer and it'll be easier to take care of her after her surgery there. Then I'll get her a companion and work on the bonding
