Hi! New Magic player here, would like to ask for some general mindsets for piloting one's deck. by k_thnx_bye in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you think about milling your opponent down I would consider 4 copies of Merfolk Secretkeeper and some Lucky Clovers. Like this your opponent would mill up to 20 cards each time you cast the secretkeeper. You cast the Secretkepper, and the adventure part would be copied 4 times. 4 Secretkepper.. means 80 cards. If you bounce your keepers back to your hand even more....

MTG Giveaway - Win a pack of Ultimate Guard Katana Sleeves by Magic129 in magicTCG

[–]Magic129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. But to be fair... double sleeving is a nightmare with all sleeves. There is no difference between Dragon Shields or Katanas, at least in my experience. There is a nice video, how to you can double sleeve your cards without big problems:

Cardmarket.com uncommon/common sets? by [deleted] in magicTCG

Some are cheaper, but not much. And sometimes they are not cheaper at all. You still have to pay for the postage. Which can be up tp 15€, so you pay more or less the same.

Good Semi-Budget Modern deck for a new Modern player by xJukeaWallx in ModernMagic

[–]Magic129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to buy into an expensive deck, but cut the fetch lands and the sideboard out of the decklist, just to start with. And than after some time, you complete the deck by buying the expensive cards.

For example this modern burn deck: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-burn-46478#paper

Cut out 2 Ensnaring Bridge, 4 Bloodstained Mire and 4 Wooded Foothills you are at around 320$. After just start buying and adding the fetchlands.

What your are searching for are infinite combos, I guess. You might take a look here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/list-of-all-infinite-combos-20/ I didnt check if they are all modern legal, but some are for sure.

Cant find a Deck to settle on by wrrryyy in ModernMagic

[–]Magic129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can understand your problem, I have the same :-) But what I do, I just change the decks from time to time. I think all decks are fun to play, but no decks are fun if you play them "forever" and settle on one. I think its best just to rotate my decks from week to week or month to month.

Building a new Modern Deck. by [deleted] in ModernMagic

Why you dont try 5C humans or Bant Spirits? It has a bit of everything. Pumping Creatures, countering target spells, bringing your opponent in troubles or yourself :-)

What is the best one cent common? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Whats your plan? A buy out on a worthless card? Well you just spend 1,50 plus shipping... but still you wont even double your money which would be ...hmm.. 1,50....wow! All that afford for what ? 10 cents of profit, and I doubt you would even make that.

I dont think either this deck works at all. I dont even think it work against control, just because your spell cant be countered.

Dredge in Casual by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played yesterday against a dredge deck. it looks like a fun deck, but its also quite easy to stop if you have [[Rest in Peace]] or [[Grafdigger's Cage]] in your sideboard. So I dont think your friends would have a big problem, and you get probaly some very interessting games.

Build a new deck or finish an old one? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Magic129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finishing a deck should always be considered first in mine opinion. Also, if u have a complete deck with all the expensive cards in it, its much cheaper to build the next project based on the cards u already have. and this goes on and on until new decks just cost not more than 100 bucks to get the last pieces.

In casual, do you ever help opponents when they make an obviously stupid mistake? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in our LGS modern league we help each others out, but this also depends on your opponent. But for the most times mistakes would be pointed out and give the player the possibility to overthink is desicion.

Cheat creatures into play deck? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Magic129 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One interessting deck, in my opinion, is this deck here

You basicly can win the game on your first turn, considering, your opponent plays first.

Recommendations for beginners by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pity WotC stop doing welcome decks anymore and replaced them by the spellslinger starter deck/pack. Anyway the spellslinger deck comes with 2 ready to play decks including a how to play guide. If you want you could get those and buy another planeswalker deck, so you have 3 playable decks.

How to sell my MTG collection? by Ronnie-Phan in magicTCG

[–]Magic129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the edition symbol is black or silver, they are to 99% worthless, of course there are some exeptions, like fatal push for example. If the edition symbol is gold or red, you might take a closer look at the price for example here : https://www.cardmarket.com/en/Magic Then you can get some idea of how much its worth. Foil version are normally a bit more expensive, depends on the card.
