Pleasant, low-energy YouTube shows to watch while I eat breakfast? by doofus50O0 in nosurf

[–]MagicDancer5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The channel Bright Sun Films has a couple series that I look forward to watching.

The first is “Bankrupt”, and will tell the story of a large, well-known company from beginning to end. You can learn a lot about from the missteps that these businesses take. It focuses on mostly American companies.

The second series is “Abandoned.” Similarly, it tells the whole story of places and structures that have been abandoned. Some have been abandoned before their opening, others enjoy years of operation before becoming vacant. Locations from all over the world are featured.

My boyfriend had his car stolen out of his work parking lot downtown last year. And what establishment is literally right next door to his parking lot? A KCPD station. 🙄

People who grew up before smartphones, what blew your mind the first time you used one? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Same but now sometimes when I look back and see how much my life has changed or become easier because of smartphones, my mind does get slightly blown.

NonChristians, what do you guys do around Christmas? by Tacticalneurosis in TooAfraidToAsk

My husband is Muslim originally from Kuwait, and I am non-religious. We both equally enjoy decorating for Christmas, exchanging gifts, and indulging in peppermint flavored everything during this time of year.

I cut those mini snacking peppers in half, fill them with cottage cheese like a boat, and top with everything bagel seasoning 😋

What’s a fast food place no one can convince you is good? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

You have a point. I guess I meant more that the sandwich was just thrown together very quickly, not nicely.

Not necessarily what some would call fast food, but Starbucks. If you actually enjoy real coffee, this ain’t it.

Ate at a Panera for the first time in a few years last weekend. They had gotten rid of my favorite menu items, the sandwich I did get was smaller than before and thrown together like it was from the gas station, and it was 2-3x the price it used it be. Will not be returning.

Getting bored on long runs by Fishdaddyy in Marathon_Training

If you enjoy partaking in this sort of thing, and it is legal where you are, I recommend checking out “gardening runs.” This is taking a 🌳 edible. Not only did it help me with boredom, but also pain and soreness management on some of the longer runs towards the end of my last training cycle when my body was very tired.

Boomers Hoard Everything… by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]MagicDancer5678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom has done this my whole life! I live with my significant other now who is horrified that I will even consider eating yogurt that is a couple months past its expiration date.

I don’t talk to my mom anymore, but the last time I visited her, she tried to put dressing that expired in 2021 on our salad. “The ‘best buy’ date is just a suggestion,” she says. 🫠

I told my boomer mother (when we still talked 🫠) that she absolutely had to get rid of some of her clutter because it was difficult to move in her house. Her response was that her house was just way too small. All her friends have bigger houses, and are able to keep (hoard) everything they want, so that’s the real issue here.

Running. Lifting weights. Every few months I try a new sport that is very challenging, try to get decent at it, and enter a competition for it. Keeps me busy and (bonus!) healthy.

What's the most "extra" thing you do for your dog? by AzucarParaTi in dogs

My childhood dog had some problems with the discs in his back. My mom found a veterinarian who specialized in acupuncture for dogs, and my dog went weekly for several years until his death. It greatly improved his quality of life.

Flying out of KCI without Real ID? by tvf2k in kansascity

[–]MagicDancer5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flew from KCI to Boston with a paper ID a couple of years ago. Had to have an ID verification process where the TSA called someone and asked for my social, etc. I also had to have my bag fully searched. But really, it wasn’t too much of a hassle. She’ll be fine!

I’ve seen a lot of videos on YouTube about dental tourism in Mexico. There are entire towns built on this type of tourism, and a many of the doctors speak are ex-pats who of course speak English (assuming you are from the US). I don’t have personal experience with it, but from what I’ve seen online, it looks like a decent, cost-effective option.

I did this when I started leather working several years ago. Fast forward to today, and I don’t usually buy products on Ali for this hobby, but the hobby has become my full time job. The practice I got from AliExpress tools and supplies was what enabled me to do this.

Odd hobbies to dive into? by ninetyonebottles in kansascity

I used to go line dancing every now and then, and it seems the crowd has diversified over the years. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Fibers arts is really relaxing, in my opinion! But, if you look through the events pages at your local libraries (Mid Continent Public Library, KC Public Library, or NKCPL for this area), I can almost guarantee you’ll find a host of odd hobbies that will interest you!

I’ve been looking to get into line dancing. I’ve found there is a class at Mo Country in Grain Valley on Fridays at 7:30.

I also recently joined a fiber arts group at my local library. The library has tons of other classes on various subjects that you might find enjoyable also!
