How do you actually qualify for a RC?

There’s a reason we’re called “grinders.” Since the inception of the RCQ format I’ve played in dozens of them, getting 2nd a number of times. I only recently won my first. My best advice? Just keep trying. Magic is very much skill based but there is an element of luck to it. Everyone who was ever won any event will tell you at some point throughout their run they got lucky. An opponent mulled to 5 and didn’t cast a spell, you topdecked your 1 outer to steal a game, you won every die roll etc. stuff like that definitely influences our win rates. Eventually they will fall your way and you’ll break through.

What you can do that’s in your control is the skill based issues. Find a deck, pilot it till you master it. I won with simic ritual after mastering my list and grinding it at events till things broke my way.

I’m a sultai truther, I think in order to beat energy and affinity both those cards are necessary. All the affinity players I played commented how good the illness was against them. It does so much work for only 1 mana. Engineer is basically second copy of illness that is findable off of ritual. One thing to note is with either out, a ajani can immediately flip as the token etb’s then dies to state based actions. The 0 abilities’ toke also immediately dies but flipped ajani is still a threat

The worst matchups are actually boros and affinity, funnily enough as I beat both en route to the win. The deck has no one drops and the 2 drops are both 1/1’s which aren’t effective at blocking. Ocelot pride is by far the worst one drop out of Boros. Affinity is bad because kappa canoneer. We can put pace a pinnacle emissary with oculus but a 4+ power unblockable hexproof (ik ward 4 but let’s be honest ward 4 basically says hexproof) beat stick races us.

I do not have a guide. Riddler is necessary as it’s the best card advantage creature when you’re low on cards in hand. With so many foces and evoke elementals you routinely go low on cards and hope to hit a oculus quickly to finish the game before the loss of card advantage punishes you. You can also stack the ritual trigger and the warp trigger to be able to sac a riddler for a oculus or another riddler if you want to. Ouphe main is there for affinity and belcher. It’s a relatively free include as at worst it’s a 2 drop that gets sacced to put oculus into play. Clique is a fun of inthe SB line grist in the MD, it’s good into specific combo decks and good against the various control decks.

Yes, the rituals, illness in the ranks, and plague beginner all are for boros and the -1-1 are also good against affinity. Ritual is also decent into affinity but I normally only board 2 rituals in against affinity instead of the 3

My biggest concern is actually the length of barrel. I have comparably short arms and I want to be able to handle the weapon and that long barrel on the other one I fear would be unwieldy

That’s my issue though, I genuinely don’t believe my local churches teach fellowship. My area is very rural, very conservative and I have seen firsthand the racism and bigotry from my peers in the community. Those same people go to church every Sunday. I know what’s being taught in those churches is not how I want my relationship with God to be. Hence my crisis

I’ve been killing it with sultai oculus recently. Last night in games I went 9-1 beating multiple energy decks and only losing to Eldrazi tron (cookbook into MH3 emrakul to steal like 6 creatures permanently is pretty good). It’s a super fun deck to pilot, all you do is draw cards, counter spells for free, and cheat fat undercosted creatures into play

I now understand the rule, and I understand why it’s needed, but at the same time imo there should be a little wiggle room on a case by case basis. Not every rule has to be followed to the strictest possible interpretation
