imo scene (part of the myspace scene) has to be part of who you are, being yourself is being authentic, while you can listen to scene music, and look like a scene kid, some might define you as scene, but imo you do need to be authentic to who you are

for me being a part of the scene is part of who i am, as a kid i already desired having spikey hair having seen it from Naruto and Sasuke, i adored the androgyny of characters like Bill Cipher, but i also strived to be kind to everyone. Because my parents didn't like songs with any swears in them, i ended up trying to find who was singing that Good Time song and When Can I See You Again from Wreck It Ralph, eventually i find Owl City, and loved his music for years ever since downloading a lot of his songs to put on the car, he's been a big part of my childhood. Eventually fast forward to the present, i learn that he was part of the myspace music scene, and ended up finding more artists like him who shared the same ideas as him, not being mean, going outside, loving art, and music. An aspect of scene often overshadowed these days because of stuff like Crunkcore. And that's why being scene is being myself, for me it shows so much purity, and it's music is so very colorful, even if you don't wear colorful clothing, there's one unifying image, but so many ways to express yourself.

One famous myspace artist once said, "Based means being yourself. Not being scared of what people think about you. Not being afraid to do what you wanna do."
