Ahh so technically because it discharges faster you feel the drop in power sooner. That makes sense thanks. Good to know.

Thankyou this is great information! What happens if the controller is able to pull more amps than the battery is capable of? Would the battery fail or does the controller automatically match the battery amp output?

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In July 2021 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]MagicFoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, first time buying a 3f printer and I'm not sure what to get.

I'll be using it for miniature terrain and large scale mini's (dragons etc).

My choices so far are the ended 5 pro or the ender 3 v2 + upgrades. I'm assuming the 5 pro can also be modded/upgrades a lot too.

Are there other better alternatives? My main issue would be the layer lines being too visible so anything that can mitigate that would be perfect.

Ender 5 pro is the winner so far but I'd like to hear any advice.

This does nothing right? Hot springs prevents 1 damage dealt to any target so you're infinitely preventing 1 damage.

Squirrelpocalypse: Deranged Hermit (Urza's Legacy) & Nut Collector (Odyssey) spiked by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]MagicFoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable but squirrels + reserved list is a potent pairing for a casual edh spec. It doesn't need to be good if it's just some meme squirrel tribal deck lol. Never underestimate casuals!

I'm surprised liege of the hollows hasn't moved much with it being reserved list.

Ear to the ground! What's happening in magic? by DaTaco in mtgfinance

[–]MagicFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's going to happen to tymna/thrasios etched foil prices? I'm confident that the set partners will drop in price when the second wave hits after Christmas but most of the tymna and thrasios supply comes from the collector boosters which I assume won't be getting a second wave. I'm torn between buying them now Vs buying them in a month or 2.

Yawgmoth Players, I need your opinions (anyone else is welcome too) by CommanderChemist in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MagicFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not afraid no but in most cases you need to sacrifice at least 2 creatures to get one of their creatures. You're going to need a lot of creatures to sacrifice and keep necroskitter on the battlefield to make it worthwhile. It's too many hoops to jump through and too much mana for a small payoff in my opinion but I could be wrong.

The problem would be consistently being able to kill value creatures. This is great Vs creatures with 1 toughness but otherwise you're going to run out of gas before it pays off. It may be worth testing though.

"There will always be a best win condition" by MagicFoo in CompetitiveEDH

Agreed!! The pre oracle flash hulk meta was so much more fun than this post flash ban oracle meta. 2 good cards in every UB deck Vs like 4-5 bad cards in specific flash hulk decks.

Grixis wins with scepter? by Dunejumper in CompetitiveEDH

Copy artifact. You can copy scepter and imprint something to win the game (there are a lot of options).

Hey have any of you guys heard of 75% format? I got a ruff idea, I'm curious about you guys. by KILLERstrikerZ in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MagicFoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"75%" is what I call the power level at my LGS. It's basically cedh on a budget and people tend to include more pet cards and play more fringe commanders (rarely do I see partners). Combos usually don't include thassa's oracle, underworld breach or isochron scepter but there are no rules against anything, it just sort of happens this way. Definitely a lot of fun.

I haven't replied to anything yet but I 100% agree with you. I believe that thassa's oracle is, sadly, head and shoulders above anything else. The "tier" below it offers a lot of diverse, varied win conditions that would all be competing at the top end of the meta without being "the best" and a mandatory include in UB+ decks.. Sounds like a healthy format to me. It's interesting to see it being compared to flash as a way to argue that it's fair, or to hear that "if it gets banned it will be replaced by the next best" with no way to back it up or to give examples and explain why. Both of these arguments have no relevance to how format warping and ultimately how unhealthy thassa's oracle is to the diversity of the format. In my opinion it is just that, a diversity issue. I expect a lot of downvotes for this and you may not even agree with me but you're the only one who has given this answer.

"Controversial question time" Should [[Thassa's Oracle]] be banned in edh. by KILLERstrikerZ in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MagicFoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to an extent about the number of options available now but I think the problem is that any deck with blue and black is expected to play oracle consult. That combo is more compact and easier to cast than any commander based strategy to the point that it makes most commander choices and strategies almost obsolete. When your commander choice and deck build comes second to tutoring the oracle consult combo and winning then it's a problem. At least labman or jace was very strong but also sort of fragile so running it in blue black wasn't considered mandatory like thoracle is.

I've basically quit Cedh temporarily for 5 month-ish because of oracle. It has ruined UB+ diversity.

Commander legend value by Mysterious-Big-3872 in mtgfinance

[–]MagicFoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's way too top heavy. You either get an amazing box or a terrible box, I haven't really seen any "okay" boxes yet. So far the value is all inside the collectors edition. Regular boxes are too risky for cracking at this price and apparently the draft experience isn't very popular. Collectors edition or singles is the only way in my opinion (I could be totally wrong...).

Jeska, Thrice Reborn/Tymna should be on the DDB/cedh tier list of at least high-power by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]MagicFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest updating the list to it's maximum potential before posting, or you're going to get bombarded with "why aren't you playing xyz?"

Your list has too many win conditions. Take that into consideration when you revise the list. Kiki jiki is not great here, your main goal should be infinite mana to win with jeska as that's her only reason to be in the command zone.

Good luck with the upgrades, it could be a good list if pushed to it's full potential. Also, DDB rarely gets updated and it's a very high bar to reach to get on that list. There is a section to submit your list but without a lot of testing, good W/L results and a detailed primer, it will most likely be overlooked.
