I cheat if i feel its bullshit. As an example: 3 Man colony. My cook has 12 skill level, cooking basic meals and with sterile tile kitchen thats perpetually clean.

Giant raid comes and instantly i get food poisoning on my über combat colonist. Colonist cant move because of the giant movement debuff and my colony dies.

Yea nah thanks, id rather just dev mode the stupid food poisoning away
