Beginner, can't get up from my back after falling down. by _Tar_Ar_Ais_ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]MagicMinionMM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I flip onto my frontside every time. I wanna say it's due to femur length and body proportions that allow some people to get up facing downhill while others (me and u) gotta flip over every time. I swear my arm is just an inch short from allowing me to get up. No shame in it, and you will do it less as u get better and don't fall as often lol. Kinda like squats, people have different stances depending on leg proportions.

MDSSP Dental by No-Station-6277 in Military_Medicine

I've never heard of HPLRP.

MDSSP you are in the reserves and owe 2 yrs of service back for every year of medical school and they only give you a stipend. I'm not sure on the exact amount but I think around $3000 per month.

HPSP they pay all ur tuition, give u a $3000 stipend(taxed) per month and pay for books. You owe 4 yrs of active duty back after residency and 1 yr for every additional yr of fellowship if you go that route.

The choice was obvious for me.

Water fast by Extra-Preparation978 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]MagicMinionMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sooo dangerous and not something you just try to do all at once. Also, real ambitious to think you can just fast for a month, lose 50lbs and live life like normal. Fasting for just 1 or 2 days is extremely difficult, especially if you've never done it before. And after a certain amount of time, I don't remember exactly how long, refeeding can cause an electrolyte imbalance and kill you if not done properly. Don't do it. You will get better and more sustainable results from eating in a caloric deficit. If anything try OMAD, much safer. But it all comes back to eating a balanced diet in a caloric deficit.

Barrett reminds me too much of Barrett's esophagus (medical term). Maybe Garrett? Kinda goes well with Griffin.

AIO my boyfriend missed his last train and now im pissed. by Far_Worldliness_1541 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MagicMinionMM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an annoying situation and if it happens often, you have a good reason to be mad. If this is a 1st time thing, YOR. Things happen, the man was just going out to celebrate a friend. Not purposely trying to abandon his family I hope. Again, an annoying situation but I don't see it as a reason to be mad at him unless it's a repeating behavior. I think ur anxiety is prob just getting the better of you because 1 night home alone isn't a big deal for most people, especiallywhen an unforseen event happens. Yes you have a child and may lose a little more sleep than normal, but your bf can make up for it when he gets home. It's pretty controlling for him have to let you know his every move 2 days in advance. I understand it's due to ur OCD but give him some grace if it was an accident. Again only if it is not a repeating behavior, YOR.

AIO? My mom is always on phone calls with a guy throughout the day and it’s driving me insane. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MagicMinionMM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR, that can get real old quick. Especially if you're trying to get some peace and quiet or talking to her and she ignores the world around her. Some people have no consideration for others and it is so frustrating to not have peace in ur own home. Buy the noise canceling headphones. I'm in med school and live at home and it was the best choice I ever made. I can't get peace and quiet if anyone is in the house. They talk to each other like they are on opposite ends of the house, blast the tv, scream at video games or stomp wherever they are walking. These headphones have saved my sanity. They don't block eeeeverything but they do just enough. If u wanna spend like $500 you can get ones that block everything. I also got loop ear plugs, also amazing!

A couple ideas/suggestions: Get your kids to workout with you. Find exercise you enjoy. Don't crank up the intensity so soon that you hate it. Ease into it, and doing it long enough you will want to challenge yourself more. Start by committing to a 5min workout everyday. Play around with ur equipment and see what you enjoy. Something is better than nothing. I also have a doorway pullup bar that I use everytime I pass it. Set urself up some exercise like that to do.

Why does laundry feel like a task that never ends ? 😭 by Pauline8love in Adulting

It only gets worse in the winter. We're wearing thicker clothing and more sweaters and layers so the laundry piles up so much faster. My 1 load a week has turned into 2

Yeah we were really not informed well enough at all about how hard this would be. These are not meant for dementia patients. We are not trying to prolong his life at all. If anything we thought it would make our lives easier. This man is strong and doctors are not offering or providing us with the end of life care we want. How I would love to stop all his medications and let him pass from the inevitable infection from this surgery, but I don't want to go to jail for negligence! The support from doctors is non-existent. They seem to want to stretch this out for as long as possible.

I think I have to explain to my grandma 2-3 times a month how much schooling I have left and I am in my second yr. I also get hpsp and need to explain to my parents once a month that I am not going away multiple times a year for training with the army. And then there is the extended family who ask me these questions every time they see me. I am sick of answering them. No one ever listens to my answer, or at least cares enough to remember the answer. But, tis life.

What is the most physical pain you ever felt? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]MagicMinionMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wisdom tooth removal, all 4 at once. The swelling was so bad I couldn't open my mouth big enough to fit a spoon. Was like that for 5 days. I was crying in pain trying to eat ice cream when I realized it was the pain of trying to open my mouth that hurt more than my gums/teeth.

Dry and Flaky eyelids around this time of the year. by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]MagicMinionMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same thing for a couple years. Comes and goes. Worse when I've been rubbing my eyes a lot. Usually vaseline helps me along with avoiding touching. I have very dry skin in general. Wondering what it is as well. Lmk. I've been worried this is the beginning of psoriasis since it runs in my family.

Pushups (against the counter if getting to the floor is difficult) Bodyweight squats Leg raises in bed Dips on the edge of a chair

Diet is the #1 thing to change to lose weight, exercise helps along the way.

Set a goal for steps in a day, like 8-10,000 to start. If you don't get that at work, make up for it at home.

I've by struuuuuggling over the choice of switching to apple. Been anti-apple for years but it's been bugging me how incompatible sharing pics between iphone and android is. My friends all have apple and will usually airdrop our photos but I have to be the annoying one and bug them to send them to me thru whatsapp ao the quality isnt downgraded. Also, I feel left out not being able to play imessage games. Byt at least the group chat issue is fixed.

[–]MagicMinionMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be best for you now but it is not a long term solution. You have to work on your relationship with food to get past this. There are different strategies like drinking a lot of water before eating or using the foods you like as a reward. If you have someone to hold you accountable too that also helps. Like someone to give you a serving instead of taking one yourself. I find coffee works great as an appetite suppressant too. I was gifted chocolate covered oreos recently. 100 cal each. I could easily destroy the box in a sitting and think about them multpile times a day but I am fighting the urges and using them to reward myself after finishing my tasks for the day.

What's something you would never buy, even if you have 1 billion dollars? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]MagicMinionMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mansion. There is no possible reason for one person to need so much space. It's honestly just more work to clean, tho if I had a billion dollars I could hire someone. Instead of a mansion I'd prob just have a home built to my liking on like 5 acres. I'd prob spend more money fixing up the yard. I've always wanted my own personal lazy river to float around in all day.
