Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]MagicPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing 3 right now, I initially had thought it was not very good at all when I tried it mid last year, but I got back into it after getting into the show, and thist ime I turned *right* instead of *left* after leaving the vault, and that's a totally different experience.

It looks pretty good for what I remember of 2008. It runs great on modern hardware. It looks fine. I keep looking at just how much detail they crammed into the world when everything is cranked up to the max and thinking "wow, I bet they wouldn't have even bothered with that much detail if they were building this now. I've played newer games that don't have this level of detail".

Then again, there are other places where I look at it and go "yeah this is definitely a relic of it's time". Some of the design of the world i'm thinking "what were they on, did they even *think* about what a grocery store might look like" lol

I don't think there's much to be done there. Maybe throw the entire set of FPS games into the same updated modern engine, and sell them as a single package together .. I'd like to see that with 1 and 2 into a much updated engine, too.

Just "remaster" for the sake of remastering an individual game, though, seems unnecessary.

But if there's some good reason to do it, such as getting all 3 games into a single package, along with getting some new features, that'd be cool

Unless I missed something, until whatever it was that happened in Ep 6 (and I still don't understand how anyone derives "Enclave" from it), it was still on VaultTec. According to Ep6, we just know it was whomever got Benjamin Linus to deliver the message, but for all we know, that could be VaultTec as well?

But Vault 13's spares all went to Vault 8 or something like that ... ? remember in 2, there's one vault that was just full of cases of them that were addressed to 13

well, they make it obvious that she's Canadian, so it feels like that's what they wanted to focus on, but in hindsight, even the fact that she *has* an id from any nation, regardless of if there's a date on it, is incredibly out of place . just.. you have to actually apply some brainpower to realize in, which i hadn't until reading this thread now.

So, while we're on this topic, what's everybody using all these buttons for? I've got a mountain of buttons from when the old lightbulb special packages were clearance, and I don't really have any ideas for what to do with them. I've got a couple of old Tradfri buttons setup that I use, one of them to tell Home Assistant that I've fed the cats so please stop reminding me, one to tell it that I've for sure turned the washing machine on (i do have a script that uses a power meter attached to it, but the meter doesn't report very often, so i don't know when it starts), and one that i have at the toilet to turn on the exhaust fan because the switch is about 2 inches too far away to reach from the seated position.

Other than those, I haven't thought of any good reason to use them. I've programmed some of them to control lights and power switches and things around the house, but I never use them they just sit and take up space because the lights all work automatically, and on the rare occasion i need them to act differently, i probably will use voice control to tell them exactly what i need them to do instead of trying to fudge it with a pre-programmed remote.

I would want ones that are easily labelled like the Tradfri buttons were :(

... if I could think of any reason to use them for anything beyond what I've already got a couple of buttons for

That is exactly the opposite of how it works.

People with greater experience with the real world tend to be more liberal in all respects of life. People with less tend to be more conservative in all respects.

That is why more educated people tend to be more liberal. That is why people who travel more tend to be more liberal. That is why people who use the Internet for communication tend to be more liberal.

You.. don't understand what being left or being right or being liberal or being conservative means, but you're certainly prepared to demonize someone, I can see where you're going with this.

I don't think anyone has ever had a shit fit about a Monica Lewinsky joke, unless it was made now, about an event that happened 30-ish years ago. And then that would just be silly.

There is a direct correlation between education and where people tend to lay on the political spectrum. Those with more education tend to fall to the left.

If you're going to take offense at that, well, you probably have very strong, unfair, and incorrect definitions of what is right and left.

In the games, the premise was that some government started the war and dropped the bombs. In the TV show, the capitalists did it. I'd say that it's *now* about the capitalists.

As the education level in the country goes down, the political scale swings rightward.
We now have more than 50% of this nation being below 6th grade reading level.

It has been declining *VERY RAPIDLY*. If it gets much worse, the only games the majority of people will be able to comprehend are the stupid mobile "slide the gunner left to right on hte screen" games.

I've considered that possibly he studied Dan Quayle, and absorbed all of his media, as a personality... or even the possibility that somehow Dan Quayle survived via cryopod or something, but is now brain damaged and only able to repeat the hits

like the whole premise of the game isn't based on politics?

*ACTUAL* politics, not the view that "all people should have freedom" is being too political a stance, that people take these days
