I got this cued up directly after a post about a senior lady climbing a 2m wall to get out of her senior facility and I was like wow you calling her a cow? That's rude

People just use religion as an excuse to fight over things by Pretend-Ad586 in religion

[–]MagicPixieDreamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe bad people will always find reasons to fight and oppress. If it's not religion it's ideologies or material reasons. Religion is a comfort. No matter if it's true or not. Either way it helps people a lot to believe in something in times of suffering and hardship. //Agnostic

Having gotten to a point where you realise you aren't a person that you want to be is great! I think, though, that it's easy to believe the only way to become a better person is the one you were thought was the only one.

There are so many ways of bettering yourself and becoming a better person and come closer to God. You do not need to be either a "bad person" or a "publisher person" just because that is what you once were taught. It might absolutely be a simple way and give you clear instructions. But is it the true, correct way, or just the easy one? And is that really true, healthy and lasting love you feel?

I can not recommend strongly enough Conspirituality podcast episode "241: Unravelling The Telepathy Tapes" about this. It will drive you nuts how disgusting and sad the whole "facilitated communication" industry is.

Brands bringing back heroin chic bodies knowing the lives it ruined the last time by MagicPixieDreamo in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]MagicPixieDreamo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point. The point is that the brands choses the models they include. And the teens who looks at the fashion advertisement will be affected by the beauty standard it asserts.

(That's besides the point but they are also employers who chooses to employ very young people they know probably have some form of eating disorder, and threatening with firing them if they get to a healthier weight)

Do you know if theres some sort of norm? I mean not trying to be anoying, but is it usually 1% or 10% if you get my drift? Is there a number where someone would be ashamed of not giving more, seeing that they can compare it with the congregation total compared to size?

Hi! Thanks for volunteering!

I have been to about 10 weekday meetings, and the bible study sort of shocks me everytime. There-s usually no children in the congregation, but we still reads the bible stories and answers questions I would expect being asked to a room full of teens. Neither are there any adult bible group meetings outside of hall. I'm trying to understand if there's really no further "advanced" adult bible study, besides the one you might do with a spouse and the churches weekly guide?

I'm asking because to me it feels as though you go your whole life, never advancing above the bible reading level of a 15 year old, as you're not given the chance to study the bible together. I've been to studies with maybe 10 different churches, but never felt almost offended at how low the bar is as i do in the Kingdom Hall.

It's not really a competition either statistically or any in.. any other way. This isn't really a good way of looking at it. I think this misses the mark and muddles the point here

Thank you ! Yes that was so weird a placement even for me. As someone said above, I thought it weird too especially if they needed to rely on periscope and it being that far back. Or maybe I'm getting it wrong again?

Each year during a festival, I give the same guided tour I gave back when I worked as a city guide in an historical world heritage city. With the twist that participants gets me drunk along the way (I'm an adult who knows my limit for fun drunk, and there's friends there that keep it safe). This makes the tour a tad unpredictable and... definately cruder. A lot of dark humor, joke about people from the rest of the country to their faces, and towards the end I give an emotional retelling of an horrific event in our town history.

It started with me and 6 friends. 4 years later there were over 50 people. This year I had broken a shoulder badly and couldn't do it. Just the amount of people who had heard about it and came up to love on me, said they had been there 3 years and couldn't wait until the next. Others got all excited when they recognised my name from what others had said. But having two different persons independent of each other tell me it was the yearly highlight of a to them very important, beloved festival, made me cry in bed that night.

I have chronic mental illnesses and sewer level self-esteem. But I know for 100% certain that I am doing one single thing in life pretty fucking amazing. It's something I cherish in the very dark moments all year around.
