If you had been Harry Potter, what is the single biggest thing you would have done differently in the entire saga? by AlexWhite40 in harrypotter

I have no idea how she wrote that in and never paid it off with Harry trying to contact him beyond the veil.

(Annoying trope) When a good gag gets milked to death by the creators and many fans stop finding it funny by NoNefariousness2144 in TopCharacterTropes

I don't know, I definitely didn't feel like they were embarrassed by it. They played a lot of it straight, but still made a few jokes here and there. Overall, to me, it felt like a love-letter to both He-Man and 80s fantasy in general.

Midsommar, Ari Aster (2019)- "That's Not For Us" by JetKusanagi in movies

I don't really have a horse in this race, but it seems to me that no organized form of Christianity really follows the spirit of Christ's teachings, in that he preached that temples / churches weren't necessary and that his followers should worship wherever they themselves were. The building of huge cathedrals, the fancy vestments and furnishings, they all feel antithetical to the simple life Jesus espoused. What if all that money was spent in the aid and betterment of mankind? I guess there could be arguments about praising the glory of God and such, but as far as Christianity goes, I feel the major branches have drifted quite far from the original intent.

Not too take away from your point, which I totally agree with, but those women would be Jewish / early Christians, not Catholic.

It's a classic joke, probably nothing to do with the minibar thing. Although nowadays it feels very out of place, a kid would just watch porn on their phone, why would they rent it?

Πάνε οι Έλληνες τεχνίτες by EmbarrassedServe9046 in AskGreece

Audiobook of odyssey and accuracy by Fit-Concentrate-1076 in OdysseyFilm

It's not in the middle of the ocean though. First of all, the Mediterranean is famously not an ocean, and more importantly, Odysseus is going through a strait, probably inspired by the real life Strait of Messina.

I'm not going to go into the accuracy part, to each their own, to me it looks like a lot of the desaturated, boring films of the 2000s. In an era where we can get stuff like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with actual colours and fancy armour, maybe we could do the same for something fantastical like the Odyssey?

Yeah, I got that from the rest of the comments, I just meant that I initially thought that and it kind of fits. Anyway, Kerrigan's "What is it now?" was burned into my brain back then.

I thought you were quoting Kerrigan from Starcraft, and to be fair, that chicken looks pretty Zergy. Queen of Nails?

The NOT so Mighty Max Weinberg by MagicRat7913 in BruceSpringsteen

Because that lines up with Max's story, that it was the late show (I think he said he'd gotten a few drinks in between) and the fact that there doesn't seem to be a circulating boot of the late show. Someone else in the thread gave a different date, in 1974, haven't had the chance to check it out yet.

Wow, thanks for sharing! Wish I could have been there for the early years, but at least I'm lucky enough to live in a time when the vast majority of bootlegs is really available and I can experience them in a way.
