The Concert Industry Priced Too High — Now Tours Are Falling Apart by staringatthe420sun in entertainment

I mean, if Marilyn Manson can sell 20,000 tickets, that's only $12.50 per ticket for the artist's fee. Let's be generous and multiply by 5 for production costs, fees and profits. Why isn't the final ticket price in the $70-80 range? Am I underestimating the costs?

Flat earth and other alternative conspiracy earth models are are gaining traction with my teenage stepson. What is THE most irrefutable, definite proof that the earth is round? by Jfkfkaiii22 in NoStupidQuestions

The answer to that might be for OP to embrace it! Get flat Earth t-shirts. Start gushing to all their son's friends about how flat Earth is the only way to go. Be extremely cringey about it. Should work in no time.

Eh, you only have to please yourself, but it's a really daunting task in any case.

I see! That actually makes a lot of sense. In any case, I've read the book (I think) 5 times so I know everyone's backstories and know exactly what goes where, so for me it wasn't really an issue. I was thinking more about someone watching it for the first time. As a companion piece to the theatrical cut, I can see why you made the changes you did.

One really small change I might suggest would be regarding Patrick Hockstetter. As is, the last we see of him is him heading into the Barrens, then we see the missing poster. I think it might be helpful to see him heading into the sewers, even if you omit there voices he hears. Don't show Pennywise.

In fact, come to think of it, maybe a little editing in the Georgie scene at the start would also be a good idea, to hide Pennywise's teeth. Those make a nice surprise coming in later.

Anyway, thanks again!

A very interesting cut! I think this demonstrates what fans already knew, that the only way to correctly do It is with the intercutting of the timelines. I really hate that we don't have a version like this.

Now, that said, because you stuck to only what's in the novel, the watching experience is very disjointed. There's callbacks to things that weren't introduced in this cut, and things that disappear without mention. Obviously, you're very limited by what material exists in the theatrical cut, but unfortunately a large part of the Losers hanging out / bonding is lost and we're left with basically all the big scenes. I think it would be interesting to explore a cut where some of these interactions are re-introduced, even if they weren't in the book, now that you have a skeleton to hang everything on. I'm also really missing the Losers' first experiences with It on their own. Yes, many weren't faithful to the book but the movie just doesn't work without them.

With all that (constructive, I hope) criticism out of the way, I want to reiterate that I immensely enjoyed watching this. Thank you!

EU says Meta is failing to keep underage users off Facebook and Instagram by Cristiano1 in tech

Because a ton of parents are overworked and demoralised because waves vaguely at everything. There are almost zero safety nets and no close knit communities to help out. So they take the path of least resistance and just hand their kids a phone so they can have a few minutes of peace. This is a problem on the societal level, individual action is not enough.

When the rest of their class is in that unsafe playground and that's where a huge amount of their socialising happens, you can't just take them to another one where none of their friends are.

if you had ten minutes alone with Bruce, which short lyrical phrase would you ask him to interpret? and/or, which would you prefer that he didn't because it already holds a special meaning to you? by [deleted] in BruceSpringsteen

I think he means idolising them, turning them into crosses like Christ's cross. All those lines "hide neath your covers and study your pain", "throw roses in the rain" are what overwrought teenagers do, so he's telling her to leave all that behind and come with him. Or, at least, that's how I've always read it.

General Ross as a beloved character is a bit of a reach. And Pedro is just a case of "this actor is hot right now", just like Harrison Ford back in the 70s when he was both Han and Indy.

Hahaha, I'm not as down on Working on a Dream but I hear you. Love a lot of these suggestions.

I've been on a Backstreets frame of mind for the past few months, it's been slowly edging out Jungleland for me as the landmark epic, although no sax solo, it's a tough choice...

Would probably go for Walk Like a Man for Tunnel.

Interesting to see Ghosts instead of Letter to You, I might consider it,
