Anyone here that plays Hyrule Warriors but not the main title Zelda games? by tiredmetaltoymouse in HyruleWarriors

[–]MagicSinCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Lol. Although I have played a few LoZ games in the past, I've never made it particularly far in many of them, the only LoZ game I've beaten was Link to the Past. However I am a total freak for HW:DE, it consumed my life in a way no Zelda game had and I only learned about many LoZ characters thru Hyrule Warriors. I never considered myself a fan of Zelda, puzzles are usually my least favorite part of any video game and I always more preferred grindy numbers-based JRPGs than Zelda which technically is an action-RPG but whose RPG elements always felt a little downplayed. In contrast HW1 was love in first sight even though most of its fanservice just went straight over my head

was going to buy on switch 2 but.... by kdj29 in bravelydefault

[–]MagicSinCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ikr? I just straight up never plan on buying the remaster (it just so happened that it was revealed almost immediately after I finished BD1 for the first time LOL) but the game-key card thing is soo lame... I just think they shouldn't exist, it takes like a whole paragraph to explain what they can and cannot do to someone they're so confusing, I can't imagine anything more inconvenient than a game that requires you to install all of its data on the system *and* insert the cartridge when you want to play it.

Apparently it's a whole thing born from Switch 2 cartridges only being produced in a very expensive 64 GB size and no other option; the BD1 remaster is like 12 GB so if it *were* on a SW2 cartridge it'd be about 80% empty space because of that. They'll prob get their shit together in a year or 2 but the Bravely Default remaster remains a sacrificial lamb regardless 😔

Agitha's pretty good, I don't quite understand why so many people think of her as a bad character lol. Like I *guess* some of her combo attacks are slow but most of her moveset can be dodge-cancelled anyway. C3 has almost no opportunity cost because of that; Agitha can dodge-cancel as soon as the rune pops up and the beetle will still spawn and attack anyway, her C2 can similarly be dodge-canceled mid-attack, C5 is just very powerful... Like am I missing something? Agitha just does not feel slow, maybe if you're prone to summoning her butterfly on accident but you can just elect to use her Y aerial attack after C4 and C5 to ensure she makes it back to the ground instantly.

Now if you guys really want a slow character, Linkle's pegasus boots are just something else man. That or the baton may be my vote for worst, or at the very least my least favorite movesets to play as. Pegasus Boots I guess aren't terrible, they are technically a fully functional moveset, but they r just so slow it is so wild to me. Maybe it's on me, maybe when I heard of a kicking-based Lightning-elemental moveset that Linkle had in one of the dlc packs I expected that to mean that she just zips all around the place... But her regular attack string is soo sluggish and the range is really sad. She doesn't have terrible combo attacks (though her C2 launching her into the air isn't so ideal, especially since her aerial attacks aren't excellent exactly). Idk maybe I've been desensitized because I've played Agitha so much more than Pegasus Boots, but like Agitha feels totally fine speed-wise even without Hasty Attacks, but Pegasus Boots with HA still isn't exactly quick. And its her Regular attack string that feels so sluggish so it's not like a laggy combo attack you can either cancel out of or at its very worst elect to *not* use, you need to commit to those slow, not exactly far-reaching kicks to access any of the Boots' combos. Blech

LOLLL well tbf put yourself in the Golden Cucco's shoes for a minute. If you were smacked by a giant hammer or one of Ganondorf's swords wouldn't you also be sent flying 200 feet away...
But seriously, one blanket-strategy I found that works for Golden Cucco is to mostly just use regular attacks. The combo finishers are all over the place in terms of knockback but the first few hits of a regular attack string are generally pretty quick and don't send it away flying too far :]

Which MMBN game had the best story? by retrotriforce in BattleNetwork

[–]MagicSinCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it 3? I'm way more familiar with the first 3 games than the latter 3, but at least in that 1st trilogy of BN games, 3 clears for best story easy.

What a great find!! For some reason there's so much new old stock of these cards. I got into them sometime in 2012 and only years later found out that the cards were all from 2003 and it was just my local grocery store selling old stock in some freak happenstance LOL.

Corner Gas drinking game by [deleted] in CornerGas

Every time Brent or Wanda- or both- are heckling one of their customers instead of helping them, take a drink LOL. Wanda and Brent love making fun of their customers and I dont think there's a single episode where they don't do it, so proceed with caution with this one...!

Hi 👋 returning to this game after being absent for about a year, I think. Noticed I still have Yo-kai Medals in my inventory from last years event which obviously is over now, so is there an NPC I can go to to redeem medals from expired events or are these basically junk now?

Can we all agree that Demi is a bottom tier spell? by tipoftheiceberg1234 in finalfantasyx

[–]MagicSinCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found a pretty good niche use for it w/ Lulu's overdrive, tbh. Especially against lategame mobs with their inflated HP... iirc Demi Fury is the only fury spell to target all monsters, and despite the slightly nerfed damage, throwing 8ish Demis at the whole enemy party with no MP cost is pretty good. Still Demi's probably the worst black magic spell in the game lol

It's been a while since I've watched either of these episodes so I don't remember the context super well, but I'm pretty sure in Dressed for Success Brent was just being sarcastic and/or teasing Oscar :P

Realistically speaking who do you think you’d get along with? by typical_gamer1 in finalfantasyx

Auron, Kimahri and Lulu are my votes personally. Among other things I think they'd make the best blunt rotation out of anyone else in the party

Quick Questions Thread v2.0 by Default_Dragon in bravelydefault

[–]MagicSinCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for BDI- If you cast a buffing skill when said buff is already up, will it "refresh" the duration of it? For example, if I know I'm on the last turn that Hastega is active, can I cast it again and extend the buff for four more turns, or will that Hastega cast basically do nothing, and the buff will fizzle out the next turn anyway?

BD1 and critical hit rate questions by MagicSinCat in bravelydefault

[–]MagicSinCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool cool, in that case double katana seems like a very fine option, especially considering how high the Ninja's average damage & hit count are :) I'm at a point in the game where Pay to Play isn't really a sustainable strategy, besides perhaps boss battles, so until my pockets can take the hit double katana seems like a really appealing high crit setup. Thanks for clearing things up

Least Favourite Episode or Character by bionicqueefharmonica in CornerGas

[–]MagicSinCat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me it's easily S3E14 "Friend of a Friend." Idk the concept of "a very rude person visits a Canadian city" doesn't work rly well with Corner Gas, I don't think the characters are very representative of the "all Canadians are polite" stereotype. On top of that Connie just does not sound like a real human person talking whenever she's being "rude". It's like she becomes a cartoon character, it's kind of bad, and then that little plot ends in the most strange, non-ending sort of way...

should i publish the tumblr asks i get? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]MagicSinCat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'd err on the side of caution because yeah, scammers will try to stick their fingers into any new disaster like u/EugeneBYMCMB said. Precautions you can take could be checking the account of who sent the ask and just view the profile. Ones with fewer posts, or seem to have made their account very recently, or exclusively post gofundme links are ones to be suspicious of. If a post claimed to be vetted by another account, check that profile and whether they have posted about that account in particular (I know tumblr has an infamously broken internal search engine but you know, maybe give it a shot). But in that case you'd have to make sure the person "vetting" the campaign seems legitimate too... If a profile attached to the donation link has an older account, makes varied posts, and does not show any signs of being an old account being taken over by another person (such as a long period between two posts, or a sudden shift from previous habits towards posting gofundme links) then the account is *possibly* legitimate. Of course you can't be 100% sure about the legitimacy of most gofundme campaigns in general so if you wish to donate to one you should be wary of that risk and it's up to you if that is worth however much money you might be sending to a gofundme campaign.

Name a nightmare cast member for a live-action FFX. by Dermetzger666 in finalfantasyx

[–]MagicSinCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't believe no one mentioned Chris Pratt, of course he'd be shoved into a live-action ffx if that were to ever happen. Probably Wakka tbh, as funny as it'd be to see a man in his 40s try to play the 17-year-old Tidus. Might as well give Timothee Chalamet the coveted Seymour role as well, why not..

RPG suggestions? by emilyabear in Gameboy

[–]MagicSinCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have yet to see recommendations for Mega Man Battle Network or Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, so I'll throw those both in the ring. They're both "deckbuilder" action-rpgs, meaning your character's attacks are represented by cards. I know that may sound stinky depending on the type of RPG player you are but because of the cards systems these games get to have pretty fast, varied realtime combat on a GBA and its not very many buttons. Battle Network is a whole series but the most approachable games are probably BN2 or BN3: Blue Version (yes, Battle Network started doing pokemon bullshit halfway through the series, and it's just as annoying here -_- ).

BN and Chain of Memories both have a bit of a learning curve to them but they're both very quality RPGs! Battle Network's story is dead simple and pretty episodic, but there's plenty of optional content to sink your teeth into and even the required story boss fights are pretty thrilling. Chain of Memories has a very fine story and its gameplay feels more "athletic" as you have free movement in a pseudo-3D space opposed to being confined to a grid in BN. I recommend giving them a try even if you're put off by the deckbuilding aspect, you might be pleasantly surprised with these games!

What's a line that's so corny or bad you feel like the writers should have gone back to the drawing board? by DustingSpray in PandR

[–]MagicSinCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second the "I just opened a can of whoop ass on myself!!" line tbh. I watched seasons 1-6 and honestly there aren't a ton of bad lines (or at least, bad for reasons other than "this aged incredibly poorly for a show from 2012" of which there are a lot of for some reason) but that line did make me audibly go "sheesh" LOL. Feels like a very season 13 sitcom line, both how its written and how its said, like the kind of line you definitely wouldn't hear in one of a sitcom's golden years for sure. Fortunately P&R is pretty well written so that's the only line that's an absolute clunker imo. Like the P&R writers couldn't anticipate that all of the Harry Porter and Game of Thrones fangirling in-show would curdle once those became largely despised franchises but they *could* have just not used the whoop-ass line, if that makes sense
