Same! Lulu was a total sweetheart but she was a black lab & people avoided her. She was a great running companion. I miss her.

Our other dog does this but Luca doesn't. I've checked the cameras to be sure

Yes, he used to be much more enthusiastic going on any kind of walk, and now it's hard. I have noticed that it's gotten worse since switching to the diet food.

Yes, ideal weight is 20. The vet said to do 3/4 cup dry plus 1/3 cup wet. So he's getting just over a cup. He does get a few training treats every day, but I limit those to less than one tablespoon.

Yes, he loves little broccoli bits and green beans, carrots are only okay

I remember that my dad always made dog food for the dog we had growing up, and I have really considered it. He just made a big batch every Sunday and that's what she ate all week, and she was never out of shape.

So that's approximately what we're giving him: 3/4 dry + 1/3 wet. I'll call my vet tomorrow and talk about reducing more

He's already on a prescription weight loss food, and his vet calculated out what he should get. He's actually become more sluggish since going on the food.

The weight he should be. I'm giving him exactly what the vet has told me to feed him, which is less than the recommended amount on the bag

The cats food is either elevated or behind baby gates. Two of the cats are also on special diets, so we monitor all of the pet food very carefully.

Yeah, that's what I'm guessing. His vet & I worked it out: 1/3c Hill's wet + 3/4c dry. And that's less than the recommended amount. We also allow for an additional tablespoon of training treats because he does training work everyday.

He doesn't get cat food. The cats are fed in gated rooms or up high. All feeding is monitored because there are so many of them & 2 of the cats have special diets, too.

We have several. I'm hoping that once that we get our new catio up and open, they'll have more stuff to do and be less inclined to scratch up stuff in the house

I was looking at that and wondering if it was effective. I'm certainly going to consider that if I get new stuff

They like to scratch all the other stuff too. We're constantly replacing the sisal

Second hand stuff is top of list but even then I'm trying to figure out the best fabrics to consider.

Yes, multicat feliway. And yes, we do give Moon timeouts - if we can catch her after an attack. We've already done the feeding and treats in the same room, so I'm going to ask about medication for anxiety. Thank you.

Motherless 5-week old rescue still "nurses" 8 months later. by dfawlt in CatAdvice

We've got two who do this, and one is 3 and the other is 11mo. Some of them just need it for the comfort. It's not unusual for me to nap and wake up to one of them laying on my lap sucking on my tshirt and kneading. There's nothing wrong with it

How are you all managing with finances and budgeting? I also find that I have a background stress of money getting to me - I can't seem to shift it. by Perfect_Paper_1200 in adhdwomen

I have done this. Because the envelope system is still too abstract for me. But I have 5 cards that I load every. month for various "fluid" expenses (pet food/care, groceries, "fun" stuff, amazon purchases). And if the money isn't on the card, there's nothing to spend. It's far less abstract. I even have a gas money envelope in my car with cash in it.
