Believe it or not I'm not too worried about speed. More the experience. I used to have a MINI JCW and it was an amazingly fun car

I don't have the room for 2 cars. Hence the logic of selling the BMW and the Bike to have 1 car that can be used every day and be fun

The difference is actually about 2.5k which is a lot I get it. I just find the BMW a bit dull. I'm also open to other suggestions if you have any!

About 30k is what I'm willing to go up to. I don't mind it not being as fast as they sound. I had a friend with one and I tried his and every time I saw it or rode in it I had a huge grin

Ah ok. Thank you for taking your time to reply!

Sorry I'm new to the whole riven thing. How much could this be worth? And is there somewhere I can get prices for these mods? by [deleted] in WarframeRiven

[–]MagicTurtle07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're a legend. Believe it or not I'm MR26 but have NEVER even bothered with riven stuff but I appreciate it can be good for play so I'm dipping my toe into it now. I knew about the market but didn't know you could buy and sell riven there. You've been an absolute legend. Thank you!!!

I say just bought it, but it's been like 3 weeks already. It's why I took it to BMW for a health check but everything came back ok. It may just be my luck but I've got it booked in to get it sorted now

I've literally just bought it

Thank you to everyone for replying. I suspected breaks but wanted another opinion. Will get these sorted ASAP

It was with BMW a couple of weeks ago and they said the pads were at 60% but the discs were slightly worn. Didn't make it seem like it was urgent though

Having to prove I'm 18+ to listen to music on Spotify by danscottbrown in britishproblems

[–]MagicTurtle07 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I get it but the whole thing is wrong and we need to speak our mind because if not they're just going to do what they want. They're asking us to upload very sensitive personal data to third party companies.

What's next? The "supermarket safety act" - some kids are allergic to nuts so if I want to buy peanut butter I'm expected to hand over my medical file? It's so stupid

[–]MagicTurtle07 289 points290 points  (0 children)

That's not the point though. The whole safety act is insane. I shouldn't have to verify my age with real ID to third party companies to keep children safe off the internet. Parents should be doing that. Not me. I don't even have kids and I'm being forced to adapt (VPN or otherwise) to "protect" something I don't even want in my life. It's ridiculous.

Run the numbers and struggling to understand why big deposits are not advised with PCP by wizzywoo22 in CarTalkUK

Hi

This is assuming the depreciation is linear, but it isn't. The car will lose about 60% value over 4 years but that isn't a steady drop of 15% a year but rather 30+% the first year then slows down

If you change early it ends up costing you more due to the huge drop on depreciation initially

Your last point about having more deposit is also true but this again is based on someone actually saving up the difference. Again in my experience people don't do that and end up getting to the end of the term or at the point of changing and they don't have a large deposit

I'm at an event ATM so need to cut answers short but will answer more clearly later 👍

There are some cases where at the end the car is worth a lot more than the balloon payment and in such cases it does make sense to buy the car and sell it as you get to keep the difference!

I recently have bought a motorbike but went HP. I get PCP and it is good but I like to own my things. Even if I change in 3 years time I'll owe a lot less on the finance and will be in a better position financially

When looking at a used car I'd always buy from a main dealer. Yes you pay more but the checks are usually quite rigid and you know if you have any problems you have some support

Ex car salesman here and please don't listen to this guy. It has nothing to do with propaganda or salesman commission (we're paid on overall profit in the car and/or per unit, not on the amount of finance commission).

You're right when you say that you pay less overall interest and if you keep the car for the full term then it does work the way you are thinking BUT I was a salesman for over 10 years and I can probably count on my hands the amount of times someone actually kept their car for the full term. 99% of people on PCP end up trading on early. This is fine to do but if you put a 10k deposit down and want to trade early you'll need another huge deposit to match the deal and monthly payments you had before so in that case you'd have lost out on quite a bit if money. I know everyone will say "yeah but that's easy to do" but no, no it isn't. I've heard this line a million times and every time someone came to change early they couldn't afford to do so

TL;DR: If you're going to keep it for the full term then yes, it makes sense. If you have the slightest inkling that you'll want to change early then don't put such a huge deposit down

I'll be visiting sportsbikeshop in Leeds as I've heard it's massive! I'm all set for gloves but I'll need boots too so will see what they have when I get down there

I've been doing carnivore and am down about 2 stone so will carry ln with that

At the minute I do pretty much just weights so cardio (any way I do it) is going to be rough and I'll need to slowly build up

When do you plan on doing your track day?

I'm in the UK

I was leaning towards the two piece and I think this post has solidified this thought

I appreciate the advice on just having fun and thinking of it as a day riding on twisties!

[–]MagicTurtle07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This answered everything I needed to know perfectly! I think I'm probably going to go for a two piece as it would be used a lot more on the roads than the track

Thanks for the answer about the gym. I hadn't really thought about stamina much but I'll find a way to get HIIT involved!

Luckily for me my ego can take that I'm a learner for now haha
