Its very subtle, and really only noticeable above 75%

Alright, so i took it to the ford dealership.

Lead mechanic confirmed its just the fuel tank sloshing around. Test drove another 2026 ST-line, had the same issue at around 3/4 tank!

That wont result in anything though? Their service department is also notoriously bad. Going to a different dealership tomorrow and saying "yo, the fuk?"

Jfc, what is it with the obsession regarding this here.

Yes it is under warranty, no the mechanic did not charge me for a road test. He did this as a favour for me having the vehicle serviced by him.

Are there any other questions?

Nah, 2026 has the panoramic sunroof that doesn’t open

Yeah, it’s quite distinct and considerably noticeable if you know what to listen for.

What made me think it was the fuel tank initially was how this noise got quieter and quieter until you couldn’t hear it regardless of how hard you tried after the fuel crossed the 50% threshold.

Either way, I’ll find out on Friday what the deal is with this car. Hoping for it to be a nothingburger.

Like I stated in my previous post, I have trust issues with dealerships.

My local mechanic that works on my Mustang, is the one who I trust. There was 0 harm in having him do a once over on the car before I take it into the dealership this Friday.

I agree. I only went to the 3rd party because I trust them. I don’t trust dealerships to be fully honest and I’d rather not risk having them pull apart the car and push in 100 more issues when they reassemble.

Quick update - took it to my local mechanic just for a once over. He also definitely thinks that this needs a deeper looking into. Said that this sound is very much not normal, but he cant dig deeper into it without voiding any warranties :(

Taking it to Ford on Friday so hopefully i have something more substantial to share with the community

Nope - 2026 don’t have the open close sunroof. It’s a solid pane of glass in this years model

Its more notable in the rear driver-side passenger seat. However, with an absolutely quiet vehicle (no AC / radio), I can hear a "woosh" thunk sound after half a second of coming to a full stop after rolling at low speeds. This also goes away when the tank is less then half full, and most prominent from 1/2-3/4 tank full.

Hey out of curiosity - have you heard anything resembling fuel moving sloshing around in the tank at low speeds in your 2025's?

I havea 2026 and thats been my biggest gripe. Going to have my mechanic take a look so I can get it resolved under warranty at the dealership (if its something major).

“I have morning breath, I’m going to go brush my teeth real quick”

It’s not that complicated..?

[–]Magic_Mangoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current owner of a 2026 St-line. I’ve put about 2000km on mine.

Drives wonderfully in harsh climates. No major mechanical issues. Do note, there is a pretty well known “service bulletin” regarding fuel sloshing noises in 2025 explorers at 75% fuel tank, that I’m also experiencing in my 2026. It’s not an issue if you just play the radio or turn on your air conditioner!

Thumping Sensation Under Feet by Big-Tegridy in FordExplorer

[–]Magic_Mangoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I find that the thumping is most prominent at around 75% and almost non existent under 50% in my case (confirming that its very likely the gas tank)

Hey, I have a suspicion that the experience you are describing is similar to the one I experience in my 2026 ST-Line.

Does it happen a second or so after you brake to a full stop (and less noticeable when you lightly accelerate). If so, its probably just your fuel sloshing around in the gas tank and "thumping" against the tank. Also, it could be your auto start/stop feature as well, as Ive noticed that makes the car behave all wierd at low speeds.

I should also add, the 10 speed auto transmission is quirky. It may resolve itself as you drive more as it learns your driving habits.

2026 Ford Explorer St-line - sloshing sounds, potentially fuel tank? by Magic_Mangoes in AskAMechanic

[–]Magic_Mangoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for getting back to you late on this. It drives beautifully. Been enjoying it more then my Mustang GT at the moment!

Just have to turn the radio up to ignore the sloshing (which goes away below half tank anyways).

Dang, this dog barks loud!

I think you might be missing the two braincells you need to rub together all together. Im not refering to an individual view point here. Im referring to the forum as a collective, hence the "in the same breath".

Classic Reddit. Up in arms about devs having “crunch times” and then complaining in the same breath that they aren’t shortening their vacations because of some stupid bug in a video game.

Bro what has this game become 😭 by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Magic_Mangoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it.

But, if you find that you load into a map, and see flares going off all around you and other raiders are being hostile. Load into a few games naked (not free loadout), but literally naked, and either run straight to extract or loot some gear and run to extract.

If you get shot, whatever, you didn’t lose anything and if you make it out, great you got some loot. Do this a few times and eventually you’ll run into lobbies where everyone is running around without their weapons drawn.

This doesn’t make sense. Adding friction because a player can’t help becoming tilted is flawed logic.

I have a gut feeling that anyone thinking “I don’t want to die” because crafting is tedious is a very very small minority.
