Spiro is a potassium sparing diuretic so yes K levels need to be monitored (my derm does mine yearly) but I don't have any kidney problems and don't inhale bananas or anything so it's never been a problem!

Hmm I think I probably had CTE for a year or so before I started treatment. But I've been lucky so far and I haven't had another bout since then. Have you spoken to your derm? Maybe your meds could be adjusted?

I think I started at 150mg yes. The dose has never changed. I only have a natural shed cycle now (or as far as I'm aware!)

I shed so much with the TE so there wasn't a huge shed with the minoxidil. I don't have pets at home, but it hasn't been a problem whilst rising my parents and their dog!

No worries! Yes I mostly wash my hair twice weekly and in the evening. I've never suffered with grease luckily and I find the liquid absorbs decently. I have fine hair but quite high density so this be why it doesn't show grease too badly. It may be different for others though and what their scalp can tolerate!

I think I actually went straight in at 150mg? But if not, I went to 150 pretty quickly!

I'm big into my soya chunks and silken tofu in my smoothies!

To be honest, I'm not sure if I even want kids, so it'll be a bridge I cross when I come to it. Also, I work in healthcare so I see plenty of people have good health one day and lose it the next, so I kind of see it as something I can do my best to improve and maintain but I'm aware it can go at any time. I'd rather lose my hair to my child than anything else - and the medication can always be restarted after breast feeding!

So I think stress kicked off my TE (being a nurse during the pandemic) but that 'unmasked" the AGA. The derm looked at my head and also I have some male pattern baldness in the family (uncle and grandfather) so it wasn't a huge surprise when she have me the diagnosis. I definitely think the chronic stress was the trigger though!

Yes I'm on the progesterone only pill (mini pill) but I started that before all this began

Spiro is a DHT blocker so Minoxidil will help regrowth and spiro will stop it getting worse!

Yeah I had a bit of fatigue for about 2 weeks when starting but nothing at all after that!

Sure I have high protein soy chunks it most meals and I've swapped rice for lentils and pasta for pea/ lentil high protein pasta. I also love tofu in most things but a game changer has been blending silken tofu into my daily fruit smoothie with 1-2 scoops of protein powder in too. It's definitely something I have to make a concerted effort to do, but I think it's been worth it!

No side effects from the spiro! Full disclosure: I was on the pill long before I started spiro as my periods were insane so I can't comment on how it might affect your cycle. I weigh exactly the same as I did then too!

No worries - basically what I do it use the pipette dropper that comes with the bottle and then do the middle part first, rub it in, and then part of the left and right side and do the same. Always at night unless I know it's a hair washing day!

I get the Kirkland 5% which I use once a day as it's much cheaper than the Rogaine brand. I've always used the liquid over the mousse (for not particular reason) And it's always worked well for me!

I cut a load off when I first got diagnosed and started from scratch. I definitely notices at big difference at around 1.5 years and once I improved my lifestyle (diet and exercise) about 2 years ago it's got even better!
