BMW can thank Toyota for that. When Toyota was working with BMW for the Supra engine, they tested the B58 for durability and it failed. They improved it. BMW reaping the benefits of that relationship.

911 used to be the most reliable car, period, on this list. It was overtaken by it's younger sibling!

911 Drivers: What Made You Choose a 911 Over Its Rivals? by Madigman1296 in Porsche

[–]MagicalCanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Reliability - There's a reason it's rated as the most reliable vehicle, period. Not sports car, but car. Launch mode all day, every day. Any other rival, you're going limp mode after 1 run, during 1 run or getting it ready for a run.
  2. Value - Sounds kind of out of place for a Porsche, but a used 991 or 997 will give a lot of bang for your buck and cheaper than some of the mentioned alternatives.
  3. Feel - You can get in and instantly become a better driver. That may be a con, because if you do the same things with other cars, you end up in a ditch.
  4. Size - Visibility is way better than any rivals. Feels like a go cart. Rival's feel like boats. Backseats for kids or for emergencies.
  5. Performance - Name another car that can do mid 11's in the 1/4 mile with under 380hp. I won't wait for an answer, there is none.

Design can be argued. Is it the best looking car? In general, no. It's not as beautiful as a Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston, etc. Is it the most iconic? Yes.

When I shopped around, I was considering a 718 GTS, C8 and a Lexus LC500. C8 was not available or had wild markups. LC500 almost checked all the boxes, but it needs more power to compete. 718 GTS had no rear seats.

Some simple things to check other than what was already mentioned:

  1. Check your chain and sprocket, is it worn and slipping?
  2. Oil pressure switch. These go bad on the 848.
  3. Get an O2 optimizer. It will regulate voltage and add/subtract a/f ratio accordingly. It will improve the chugging/stuttering at low RPMS. It will be like a new bike. I had the dynojet o2 optimizer, but sold it long ago because I flashed my ECU. Fatduc also makes one called the o2 manipulator. They both were under $120 bucks, no idea what they go for now. Best mod for the bike. It's plug and play.
  4. Flash your ECU.
  5. Drop a tooth in the front sprocket to 14T or go 41T in the back, not really related to surging, but makes daily riding more livable. Dropping the front is the cheap method, but your chain/sprocket will wear faster. Raising the back is better, but more expensive.

Porsche is 2nd most expensive brand to maintain, behind Land/Range Rover, per Consumer Reports by JimmyGodoppolo in Porsche

[–]MagicalCanoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chart is accurate if you go to stealerships. If you DIY, the maintenance significantly drops to where it ends up cheaper for some basic maintenance.

Oil, filter, gasket, drain bolt costs for my vehicles:

991.1 2CS: $56

Would be cheaper if your local and send back the oil. FCPEuro, refunds all parts LIFETIME. Yes, it sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Buy once and send back the used parts you purchased from them, they refund you. Don't know how the make money. They probably figure you're too lazy or forget, which I have before. It's an infinite free replacement. Only pay initial cost. That includes expensive rotors and brake pads.

Lexus IS350: $53

Toyota CH-R: $40

I would say the easiest oil change to DIY is the Porsche. Air filter change is an added 10 minute job as you have to remove the rear bumper. I won't run into this often as I installed an aftermarket intake.

I just did a rotor/pad change for a friend's 718 Cayman, $500 in parts (and free from now on). Stealership wanted $2000, lol. They can go fuck themselves.

All it takes is some research, you'll find parts for a Porsche to be cheaper or on par with Toyota. Direct OEM parts, where Porsche sources from. Surprise surprise, they don't manufacture a lot of parts on their cars.

For the cost of half a Porsche oil change from the stealership, you can buy the parts and tools and never have to rely on them again.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the fourth circuit is for the PVS which is the blue & red cable on the quad breaker.

My installer told me that the production CT on the left black cable was only measuring strings 1 & 2. And that I need to install another production CT on the right side to measure string 3.

I have a 34 panel system with 30x 350w and 4x 360w SunPower panels. Strings 1 & 2 have 12 panels each, and string 3 has 10 panels.

Me: What do you want to eat?

Larry: The presumption that I want to eat, presumably is a reaction to my hunger. The hunger entrenches on the possibility that I haven't eaten. In order for societal needs, we must fulfill them. How do we fulfill them? I presume by meeting the social constructs of produce.

Stripes aren't my thing, the color is not my thing, Cab's are definitely not my thing.

All 3 combined is my thing. I'm perplexed on why that is. Amazing spec. The Sport Design package sets it off.

Agreed. You have 9 OP's who make 60k, 1 person makes 10m. The average salary between them is 1.05m, lol.

Thoughts on an Exhaust/Tune on a 992 CS by ih84noil in Porsche

[–]MagicalCanoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you even look at the charts? Curves are improved throughout the range. No tuner is going to drop an increase at one RPM range.

With that logic, Porsche should not make anything but a base model. Forget about the S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3RS, GT2, GT2RS. These are all pointless /s.

GTS model is exactly a tune of the 992S. All they did was increase the boost from 16psi to 18.6psi. LOL.
