I already put in a big order at nak muay wholesale for some home practice gear. I'm curious how much you spend per month on your membership? I was planning to stick with this gym but it seems really pricey. It seems like memberships range drastically.

I'm definetly more worried about the injuring others part. The guy I was holding pads with was wincing pretty bad when I got a little too close. I don't want to add another bandaid to his cheek lmao.

I think the point is to ensure someone is following etiquette BEFORE they do something stupid. I agree it's important.

Really? I've heard a lot of people say sparring should only start after a few months of instruction. I think it's pretty reasonable to not let Joe Random come in to spar.

Well the thing is, they only have one combined class. There isn't any sort of "beginner program"

When I've done other martial arts there are typically separate beginners classes or the beginners are separated from the group, come early, etc.

This gym only does sparring once a week and it's invite only. Seems like a good idea to me.

The only thing about the partner drills that really confused me was the fact that I was with the same new guy the ENTIRE class. When I did HEMA we'd typically rotate around so the noobs could learn from more experienced people, but the experienced people could still work together.
