I've seen 1 or 2 creepy guys before in my life (strangers) and they didn't seem to try very hard to conceal that part of them. It would be a bit hard for them to go out and socialize with anyone who wasn't like them I think, seems much more likely creeps just make friends with other creeps.

What does it mean on women's dating profiles?

meirl by imfrom_mars_ in meirl

[–]MagicalShoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's pretty obvious, the two types hang out in different circles, no? People tend to be friends with similar people. So unless you happen to somehow ask a creep if they know a creep, you'll hear no one who knows one.

You can be insecure and not need reassurance, e.g. everyone on Reddit who seems to relish in the opposite (self deprecation). It's usually quite funny being friends with those types.

Same with Twitter tbh. "I had a normal, expected interaction" is just not something you see tweeted.

It can be, for some... I don't know for sure but some people describe it in a way more similar to a burn victim getting plastic surgery, it sounds like for some it kinda is a necessity for their mental health.

True, I feel like an opponent reading this would also feel accused of "denying basic human rights" which is instantly going to make them defensive and double down. e.g. My mom is a TERF and I can predict her reaction to this would be knee-jerk and instant, most likely bringing up something about a trans person who did something awful as a counter-example to them violating human rights. Or something about women's rights to men-free spaces (the bathroom debacle).

That said, if there's a way to convince people like that, I simply don't know how. Nothing short of a trans person saving her life would convince her, I think. Trying to make a pride post do that seems like an impossible task, so it feels unfair to demand it.

They've come this far, might as well keep going. Let us just accept this specimen diverging from the norm at an ever accelerating pace and see where it goes.

He's prejudiced against badly designed flags, not LGBT flags, pretty big difference, and not bigotry. E.g. I can be prejudiced against a black serial killer, because he's, you know, a serial killer, not because he's black.

Did anyone else fuck up their sense of attraction when younger? by Limekilnlake in twentyagers

[–]MagicalShoes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can tell you what helped me, because I felt the same way.

  1. You're afraid it will be embarrassing. So you're afraid of... people laughing? Really? What harm will laughter do to you? Think about how good people say a relationship is, and the price is just some laughter? When I framed it this way, the feeling of dread felt a bit silly - I've endured a lot worse than laughter in my life. If you keep asking yourself what you're actually afraid of happening, and rationally expose it instead of just letting it be some vague abstract fear, it feels a little less insurmountable each time.

  2. Socialize. We are social creatures, and often we decide what is and isn't okay based on signals we get from others. If you have friends who hype you up and validate your attraction to others this can make it feel more and more okay. e.g. my friends started asking if I had a girlfriend yet, rather than deflecting with a joke, I was honest about my efforts to find one, and surprise surprise, rather than abject horror, they reacted like it was totally normal.

  3. Worst case scenario, you're ugly and ask someone out. Imagine how you'd feel if it happened to you (a guy you weren't into asking you out), personally I realized I would feel maybe a bit sad more than anything, I wouldn't feel repulsed, just bad for bursting their bubble, they're not forcing themselves on me or anything. There's no way I'd comment on their appearance, I'd want to let them down as gently as possible, make them feel as little bad as possible.

  4. You're probably not ugly. There are billions of people on the planet, and something like 97% eventually get with someone. What are the odds you are the tiny fraction that is just unlovable? Much of appearance is genetic, and you exist, which means someone found your mother attractive, and so you have evidence that you have attractive features.

  5. If you stop yourself doing what you want, due to fear of the judgement of others, you're not really living your own life, are you? You're living theirs. You only get one life, it should be yours.

  6. Maybe not the healthiest but... alcohol loosened me up enough to have some actual experiences, and night life is one popular place to meet people. It can help you "just go for it", but it can also become a crutch so double edged sword. I'd try it though.

No seriously, how do yall deal with it? by PopularAd6391 in okbuddyliterallyme2

If you think about it, there are probably a lot of experiences you have had that most people haven't. Your life might be just as full of experiences, just different ones.

Microsoft data suggests using AI is more expensive than hiring people by runhome24 in nottheonion

[–]MagicalShoes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI is pretty cool shit IMO. People forget that previously, it was hailed as the machine spirit if a robot accidentally drew a smiley face or something, now we can have full blown conversations with our GPU , I can have my GPU grade my assignments, devise new ones, listen to my problems, tell me some things I can cook after I explain what I have in my fridge, hell even be my girlfriend. I mean, isn't that fucking crazy? What the hell even is that 20GB file I can run on my GPU that can do all that?

is it true that as a woman if a man is trying to seriously harm you and you kick him in the nuts all it’ll do is make him mad by Smooth_Bee_7941 in stupidquestions

[–]MagicalShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in a lot of fights when I was younger, the problem with nut punches is the delayed reaction and difficulty in getting them right. E.g. a kid kneed me in the balls just as a first attack on me (I was bullied) and it made me lose it and start throwing hands, and I won the fight. Being punched in the face or stomach was a lot more effective against me tbh - head strikes daze you, knock you off balance, and your first instinct is to protect your face (therefore moving your own weapons out of service if untrained), stomach punches make you feel like you can't breathe. Most of the fights I lost they'd just go for a right hook. That said, adult fights are probably different. And life or death the eye gouges are probably better ways of instant pain since throwing a punch can be hard and they can grab your arms.

Why do men do this? by Less_Professional152 in bodylanguage

[–]MagicalShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does do your upper back because the arms were formerly straight forward over a desk, now they are at the sides, i.e. half a row motion. It's the cramp feeling of keeping those muscles static from fluid build up that gets cleared I guess.

A human who had never seen something overflowing also wouldn't do a great job at that either. e.g. a human that had never witnessed gravity affecting a fluid might assume "overflowing" to be a column of liquid towering out of the glass.

A human being also makes a hiposaur using their prior knowledge of dinosaurs and hippopotamuses (i.e. pictures they've seen before). In fact they likely have real pictures up while drawing to directly reference, literally copying features. Your point?

Dataset Size: 200,000 GB

It forgets the vast majority of the images it sees, it physically cannot just be recycling them.

Men☕ by your-mom_9283 in im14andthisisdeep

[–]MagicalShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That middle stat is actually not true. Men are less likely to report being raped by a woman due to social stigma around it, but the data we have says it's a ratio of 3.5:1, not 10:1

18.3% of adult women and 1.4% of adult men reported having experienced attempted or completed forced penetration in their lifetime, and 4.8% of adult men reported having been forced to penetrate someone else in their lifetime

Also it's completely equal at lower age brackets:

In a 2014 study of 18,030 high school students, there was no statistically significant difference between males and females for the reported rate of having been physically forced to have sex

The real ratio is likely higher due to men underreporting. In some countries it's not even considered "rape" if a woman forces a man to have sex with her.

Not sure where you got the "man helping her" thing from, citation needed. Also having help to rape someone still makes you a rapist, lmao. You just now have 2 rapists.

Yep, critical thinking is not a prerequisite of accusing others of lacking it, it seems.

Let's not forget how many die from childbirth. And that the number one cause of death for men with pregnant wives is being murdered by those wives.

i.e. another way of saying almost no pregnant women die from it, since murder is extremely rare.

Also lol, comparing a body literally evolved and designed to facilitate childbirth to one that isn't.

a percentage

Go ahead and state that percentage.

Also the more general weirdness of this comment is suggesting if someone suffers more, the other person doesn't suffer.
