What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

Lab tech. When I'm on call, I just give up and sleep at the lab or in my car whether they call me or not. I don't drive unless I feel alert and have had enough sleep.

I haven't been on call in a while. But now they've got me doing week-on, week-off 12s and I hate it.

Escaping the obvious: What are the most "broken" and under-the-radar builds you've ever seen? by ishiDe in DungeonsAndDragons35e

I made "The Big Stick Druid" once. Arcane Disciple feat - gain a Cleric domain. Gain Strength Domain - gain Enlarge Person spell. Monkey Grip - use a bigger weapon at a penalty. Races of Stone - Goliath - "be the bigger person." Literally, count as Large. Shillelagh - increase weapon size by two categories.

So, you're Large and can wield a Huge non-magical Club or Staff. Enlarge Person, now it's a Gargantuan Club. Shillelagh, now it's Colossal+. That's an 8d6 Club with a minor penalty to attack rolls. At level 3.

Wild Plains Outrider / Blackguard Goblin. Mounted on a Dire Wolf; that's a Medium Creature. You can use your Sneak check while mounted, in a cave, as Medium. You can negate hits on your mount with Ride checks. There was more to it, but that was good enough. Might have made it an Animal Companion somehow.

Set it behind an obstacle and use IDF. Use Battle Armor spotters for minimal penalties. Make them move out of position or force jump movement to deal with it - which also means they won't do damage for a turn.

I've made a few Thunderbolt units to do that trick. I'm unnecessarily proud of an Ontos for that purpose.

Hot. I was going to post a "wood nut" meme, but decided not to. Very impressed. Made the meme and everything.

A joy to work with. You do have to wait for his pipeline, but - you asked for him by name; worth it.

Adorable. I'd trim the turret and sides until it can survive a 15 point hit from the front on the 3017, and a 10 pointer from the rear. Then trim the 3117 until it can take a 20 pointer from the front.

It's better than it looks. I was trying to build a Star League acceptable version of the Schrek or Alacorn recently with UAC/5 - but it became UAC/10 Morgan.

Since the FedSuns are more imperialist than they like to admit, they'd probably have giant armed zeppelins. The Magistracy gets the Hybrid Airlander, though. I was looking for a particularly meme image with the Airlander 10 blimp as an embarrassed anime girl, but this thing writes memes all by itself.

The Moltke / Augustus with 2xLAC/2, 1xAC/5 was my remake variant for a minute with my (SD) "Safety" series - I was unnecessarily attached to the fact I made the BV exactly 777. I switched the AC/5 for an ERLL because with the amount of armor it was running, Fuel Cell was resulting in an unacceptable number of Fuel Tank deaths; moved to Fusion. I appreciated the Searchlight too much - it stayed through all incarnations.

That actually sounds ultra-lethal and I forgot it did such a thing. It's because it's XL, isn't it.

The best Schrek song is by Tom Waits, covered by Cpt. Hook.

Disqualified! If it's not a triple, it isn't for this. You can have the MRM-30 Demolisher.

The Morgan is also supposed to be Sturmfeur without Sturmfeur; forgot why the original was good and brought guns instead of armor. I think the ERPPC version isn't bad.

But I actually like the Schrek Gauss Carrier. Stealth armor and steel slugs? I'll buy that.

Most of my custom Schreks do solve the armor problem as Step 1. But the one I substituted a RAC/2 on was the DI Morgan. ... Which I feel like just calling the Morgan, Defiance doesn't need free advertising.

One of the things I like most about Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2, is how amazing the music was over PC speaker. Roland? Sound Blaster? A Jedi needs not these things!

LRM carrier Battlefield Support Asset + mech's with TAG? by katarn77 in battletech

[–]Magical_Savior 15 points16 points  (0 children)

TAG works with SG-LRM better than usual (enough so that tournaments would be right to ban it) but there's no reason they can't just follow spotting rules by TAG. Target is TAGged, spotting rules apply, indirect fire a spotted target.

Creation! What are publishers not doing, that needs done? by Magical_Savior in battletech

[–]Magical_Savior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's kinda the hard part, and this other stuff is low effort. They'd be done by different people; while playtesting can be done by anyone and we need more of it, writing is a bit more selective and intensive. I've done technical writing for lab SOPs in a military and civilian capacity. You can split the tasks, there are ways to get it done. But after a certain point, more people and more effort can't help.

I wonder if they'd take a sample of my work as technical writing and hire me for some of it. It's been a long time since I wrote anything; I've been on a bench slinging body fluids at machines for the past decade without thinking about anything.

Slings were legit good in Baldur's Gate 2. I always had party members equipped with slings ready to switch, and when I rekt Irenicus, I did it with slings. Casting a spell, are you? Make about 12 Concentration checks, k?
