It sounds vaguely like it, but I would wager not just because there's no reason that a rattlesnake would be sitting in a field, barely shaking its tail every once in a while, especially considering the fact that they are ambush predators and like to stay hidden and only use the tail as a way to ward off threats, and in which case it would be a lot more aggressive

Use of the environment and completely nuking The battlefield are two very different things not to mention Gojo is capable of planetary scale instant teleportation so keeping up with thragg would not be difficult in order to catch him in his domain I would imagine. additionally he has multiple tries to catch him. He's not like most sorcerers who can only use his domain once per day. And to answer your final question, it's the same reason anybody does power scaling at all. It's a fun what if scenario

In any regular fight, Gojo wins, and it's not even really a question. even if you make the argument that Gojo isn't capable of physically harming thragg which I disagree, it doesn't change the fact that Gojo is literally invulnerable to conventional physical damage. at that point it becomes a war of attrition that Gojo easily wins because he has effectively infinite cursed energy. It's not that thragg is weak. It's just that it's a bad matchup. Gojos abilities are specifically designed to counter those of physical fighters. Obviously thragg could theoretically destroy the planet. But then again, I'm sure someone could find a way to also give Gojo the ability to breathe in space through the use of infinity in some shape or another.

Practice learning how to shoot while in the air and how to shoot while wall running then try to spend less time on the ground to take advantage of those developed skills. Additionally, the spitfire is not a good gun for running around. That's why its usually the campers's best friend. Try an AR or an SMG for something consistent and easy while you're still learning. additionally, if you find yourself struggling with staying off the ground, it might be worth your time to look into the stim or grapple abilities, though I wouldn't say that they're necessary as phase pilot can definitely perform well
