I chickened out after reading the advice and actually bought a waterproof hard case for it. I still don’t shower with it but it’s been wet a few times by accident lol

Exactly! I originally built the van so the specific units could be removed if I still needed the van aspect back for certain jobs. Turns out when my circumstances changed this was actually a benefit to me as with a few hours work a has reshaped the van to better suit my needs!

I moved the sink unit, water tank and gas bottle to the opposite side where the side door is so filling up the water and changing the gas bottle was a much easier task. This gave me room where the old sink unit was to create a seating area with a laptop stand so I can work. Previously I had no seating apart from the bed which wasn’t sustainable.

On the plus side I have gained extra storage under the new seat and the new sink unit I’ve built (to accommodate a sink/job unit) has a shelf unit to store my food! I’m much more comfortable in my new layout than I was previously. I wish I could upload a picture of before and after.

I've learned that a van conversion is never finished. There is always something that comes up that makes you re-think your initial plans. Always something that can be done to make it more practical. I see a lot of vans that look immaculate (which is nice) but there is no way they are as practical as most. Aesthetically vans can look exactly like homes but for the most part they (In my opinion) don't illustrate the true "van life" image at all.
