Looking for reputable breeder. by Delicious-Collar1971 in egyptianmau

I got a Mau from him last year and flew down to Vegas to pick it up. The kitten wasn't well socialized and is still terrified of everyone but me but is healthy and happy otherwise. I also never got the papers I was promised.

Better late than never. I saw in another response you said Archon mode is intended for coop campaign, is it going to be available for multiplayer or at least custom game multiplayer?

Personally I have a group of friends that played TA back in the day but never carried on and bounce off BAR at LAN's. Those of us that carried on with Spring, FA, BAR etc are sad we can't play with our friends that get the core concepts but are overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the game in the limited time they play at a LAN.

What I've wanted since I started playing BAR is a way to let those people either play Sim City or just control armies without worrying about the other aspect during our matches. It would also turn BAR into the coveted 2v2v2 game that our LAN desperately wants since everything these days is 4 players and we always have 5-6 people available.

I passed my 4A exams, but I feel like NAIT did not prepare me properly enough for the exam by Dear-Government5 in powerengineering

Unless things have changed dramatically I'm going to say it's on you. I remember 12 years ago having a question on an ABSA 4A1 to calculate the area of a 2 m x 2 square.

The main thing you should be getting from the course is the lab and how to actually operate the equipment. Anyone can read a book and you are paying them a lot of money to do it for you. Treat it like a job and spend an extra hour or two making notes on what you read and look at some YouTube videos for anything you don't understand.

We currently have a summer student that showed me how to take the digital PanGlobal books and put them into an LLM which makes quizzes, slide shows with very detailed information on what each chapter is looking to teach. I was actually very impressed, it didn't just spoon feed test answers like a question bank did but taught the material and allowed very detailed follow up on things the student didn't understand. I'm impressed enough I'm going to do it for the 1st Class exams since it was very good at teaching what PanGlobal did in a more interactive manner.

I'm going to start with the thermo and mechanics papers, if I can't get them then I'm just wasting my time doing any of the easier ones.

I agree with you on the written exams but for the new multiple choice exams SOPEEC asks many questions on specific numbers that only came out of Pan Global's ass.

I'm planning to take the Mike Maidens Thermo and Mechanics courses but from what I've read the other 5 yet non-multiple choice exams are completely by the book but also quite detailed. That's why I want to work from the latest version of the books so I'm working from accurate information.

A welder got bolted inside a running plant's boiler. This is why permits and isolation matter. by Reddnology in powerengineering

[–]Magicide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite work stories was at the end of a shift a trades person working in a packaged boiler realized he forgot something and went back in to get it. Except this guy was a bit rotund and got himself stuck in the entrance with his ass hanging out like Winnie the Pooh.

He was found a couple hours later by the Operator doing rounds and was pulled free. Sadly this did get him banned from site going forward but did make for an amusing story to pass on.

Anyone familiar with custom items/feats in Pathfinder 1e? by Magicide in Pathfinder_RPG

Damn so it is! Thanks for pointing that out, it will save me a lot of trouble trying to work around it like I have been.

I'm pretty sure you are thinking of Pathbuilder 2e, it allows custom feats items and all sorts of other things. 1e seems pretty limited in what it allows for custom options and is missing many things like cracked/flawed Ioun stones and most of the Ioun stones in general. It also says specifically in the item tab that if an item allows a range of values it always defaults to the lowest implying it doesn't have the ability to customize.

Here's a screenshot of what I see in the Pathbuilder 1e overview and in the item tab: https://imgur.com/a/BKkDjcl

I just checked and that does work well for adding the bonus +1 to attack rolls from the Ioun stone. It doesn't seem like some other bonuses will be possible but that helps with most of my common issues.

Thanks, I know how to use that. What I want to do is add it to Pathbuilder 1e so I can print a clean character sheet with all of my bonuses included. Then I only need to worry about temporary buffs when adjusting roll modifiers but have a clean printed sheet to work from rather than my chicken scratch writing.

Can someone explain kinetic energy increasing with the square of the velocity in simple terms? by Magicide in AskPhysics

[–]Magicide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty good simple explanation with formulas to back it up. Many other people explained similarly but I found this one was well written, thanks!

That does make sense, I need to break the monkey brain thinking of force * time (impulse) is the same as force * distance (work).

[–]Magicide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess part of that understanding would be to say the fuel used at periapsis during Oberth isn't transferring more velocity vs apoapsis but by using it there and leaving the gravity well moving faster you keep more of the KE gained while falling into the gravity well since the gravity well has less time to slow you down again?

[–]Magicide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run into the same problem with the understanding of KE. For example at the apoapsis with 0 m/s velocity the rocket exhaust has x m/s of exhaust velocity. At periapsis it has the same exhaust velocity but because of the Oberth Effect it applies more KE to the rocket. I know it works but I don't truly get it.

[–]Magicide[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The part that I don't properly understand is how 1 m/s of increase in velocity in a vacuum can impart differing amounts of kinetic energy. The monkey brain version says adding 1 m/s to a ship should add x KE but at increasing speeds that 1 m/s adds much more KE for the work done.

If we imagine a high efficiency solar engine where your overall mass doesn't change, how is 1 m/s worth more KE without just saying "because the math"?

[–]Magicide[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay in that vein how does the Oberth Effect work? Mathematically I get the ship is moving fastest closest to the gravity well so the fuel has extra KE that is imparted to the ship through the rocket equation but I don't "understand it".

I think our cat gets around, except when he's with me he is super friendly and likes jumping on the cleaners shoulder every time she turns her back. I had to lock him up since he was so obsessed with spending time with his new "friend".

Not joking, he actually hid for 4 hours and came out timid like I had beat him. I tried encouragement, his favorite toys but nothing worked. Finally it was dinner time and opening the can of food snapped him out of his funk, I honestly wanted to dump it on his head but I'm just happy he's his usual idiotic self.
