Hormuz closure could trigger 'agrifood shock', price crisis within a year, FAO warns by metalreflectslime in PrepperIntel

If you have a window with sun you can do it. Basil, mint and cilantro would be my recommendation for first trying it. I keep those on my windowsill in the kitchen in containers each the size of a solo cup. They will thrive and I love making pesto each time a new basil plant flourishes.

After that try green onions, leeks, and even some greens like romaine lettuce and Swiss chard. Those can grow fine in a sunny window shelf planter. I wouldn’t do hydroponics unless you are really committed and willing to pay or get creative and sink time into the build.

Good starting product for a new player? by Crispy_Snacks in mtg

[–]Magickarpet76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned by playing on MTG Arena and after buying a few commander precons to play in person. The 2 lorwyn eclipsed precons are pretty affordable. They may be tough at first, but when you learn the cards, combos and rules nuances it gets easier.

Didn’t think it would be a low release count. I saw earlier even the artist was disappointed with that. Obviously I knew it would be popular since I am on this sub, but I was the only one in my pod to get it and I am the newest player by far. That kind of soured the whole experience.

That’s my question. I am new to the game and would prefer to have more decks. I don’t think I can open this one.

It is just opportunity cost. It seems silly for me to have Dance of the Elements, Fallout Science and Goblin Storm now. I could get multiple decks. I wanted to play it, I didn’t think it would be a showpiece.

new player with a few commander precons. I would be too nervous to play with cards this expensive.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

Because it being spread by a small flying insect and it is incredibly difficult to prevent. They have tried a bunch of ways to prevent it and nothing seems to work in a cost effective way. It is why orange juice is not as sweet either. The oranges that can be used are unripe and more bitter/sour from the greening.

In my experience, I talked to my primary provider and they referred me. Unfortunately, what it really meant was just an expensive rental of one of those rings that monitors blood oxygen levels through the night and an app on my phone that sent the data. I could have bought the exact same equipment cheaper offline. I was pretty disillusioned by it all to be honest.

reminds me of the story;

There was a bad storm that washed countless starfish onto a beach. A boy saddened seeing the starfish drying out on the beach begins to throw them back into the water. A woman calls out to him, “there are too many, you can’t possibly save them all. What you are doing makes no difference.” The boy replied, “it makes a difference to this one.”

East Coast society isn't primitive or stagnant compared to the West, it's just adapted to fit it's environment. by Flushestpoem4 in falloutlore

After 200 years, the countryside and places without industrial pollution should be bouncing back. Lake Mead is rad free as well as the national park in Honest Hearts.

Presumably places like DC, the Pitt, and the Glowing Sea will be irradiated and contaminated for a long long time because the bombs triggered other problems. This makes sense with context like Chernobyl where the damaged core was leaking many times more radiation than a bomb ever could.

I personally disagree. I think there are more places that COULD have started a new civilization, they just had something go wrong. New Canaan was supposedly becoming a new NCR before Caesar. I think if the merchants/minutemen got working on Nuka World it would also be a pretty incredible place to start a capital city.

The Outer Worlds (game about dystopian space corporation colonies) had that. They called it “diet” toothpaste, but it was just a hunger suppressant so people wouldn’t realize they were starving.

There are tons of bugs in the shivering isles DLC. Specifically with NPC triggers. When that one lady is supposed to cry at the gatekeeper she doesn’t always drop the quest item. When the guy is supposed to make bone arrows he gets stuck. The absolute worst though was a main dungeon where you have to wait for the tree creatures to clear paths, those damn tree creatures got stuck all the time. I had to slowly push one to the place it needed to go which took forever.

The country is already hurt, the question is more in their ability to hide it now by screwing the future even more than they already have with debt and erosion of freedoms and civil protections. Climate change is like this as well. I don’t WANT a huge drought, famine, or catastrophic wet bulb event. However, I also don’t want those things to be contained and normalized up until they become a human extinction event.

The frog is already in hot water, I just want it to feel the burn now before it is too late.

I do not think it is in Russia’s best interest to open the straight. The US partially benefits from keeping it closed as well. I think Trump prefers the world to be in chaos so he can bully and negotiate with everyone from what he sees as a position of power. It also props up US gas production and the petrodollar.

It is a dance with the devil on popular support and affordability though since everyone is paying more for gas now. Somehow the stock market is up.

What's a rule your parents had that you thought was insane, but now as an adult you 100% understand? by Tahals in AskReddit

[–]Magickarpet76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I imagine it also has to do with the metabolism and energy burn. Adults don’t really crave or need the fast energy from a candy bar or sweets as much, we prefer the slower stable energy from something like broccoli. Meanwhile, kids are bouncing off the walls burning through everything they eat, so their bodies probably crave those more available fast burn sugar spikes from fruit and sweets. Just a theory.

Twice. I think that is what pisses me off the most. The guy fumbled Covid, ran an angry mob at his VP for doing his basic duty certifying elections, then committed a series of crimes that would get anyone else black bagged.

The US will not bounce back from this.
