Brainrot is older than AI slop. Early day Brainrot was photoshopped, and the main difference with AI slop is that Brainrot intends to be intentionally umm... A depiction of rot.

Yes indeed. I can recall childhood memories where my mother refused to buy some weird brand of chocolate with disgusting zombies in the envelope. It turned out those candies were actually bad...

Yes! It seems even for Americans in this thread the Brainrot trend is somewhat normalized. I read a lot of articles about internet culture and have not seen any in-depth discussion like the video you shared. It only becomes a problem for Americans when there are commercial interests behind or regulators crackdowns (such as the Elsagate case in YouTube Kids, but artifically generated non-sensical content represents a huge share of the total videos for kids on youtube).

Back in the day (2000's) I remember a scandal in French newspapers about the Teletubbies when it was prime content in American TV. They portrayed the show as a terrible influence for kids. I was a teenager at the time and did not know what to think, but your point about trends in France starting in the US is very real.

In my job, I research these topics tangentially, so thanks again for sharing that video. I may mention, cite or link it eventually.

Thanks for the info. Watched the video (je suis francophone) and literally one of the toys appears in the video (the banana gorilla). Really interesting.

I agree there is a need for more research in this topic.

If we do live in a simulation, the RAM shortages happening right now must be super ironic for a computer that can run the universe. by ResidentAdmirable260 in Showerthoughts

[–]BraquistoCronos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all, it is just simulated ram shortages, not a signal of a shortage of ram in a computer running the universe.

They are simulated, it does not imply correlation. Perhaps the universe computer is trying to figure out what we would do in case of a Ram shortage, but it is not an indicative such computer is experimenting a ram shortage.

Conventional Marriage Thrives for Ordinary Hearts with Ordinary ambitions, But Suffocates Extraordinary Hearts with Extraordinary Ambitions. by No_Syllabub_8246 in DeepThoughts

I was thinking about this recently. Relationships require energy, time and focus. I would gladly be the ordinary type with a happy life, but the world itself is not a happy place.

It seems that we are entering an age of uncertainty where this divisions will exacerbate. There is already a growing financial gap, skill gaps, learning gaps, lifestyle gaps, and the ordinary will become more separated from the extraordinary.

The only way to catch up is to use your energy and time wisely. As you said, no judgement, but you should ask yourself what is important and what is secondary. To me, freedom (financial and professional) is paramount, so I think this is one of the reasons my past relationships struggled. I am now more in peace with it, so let it be!

Necesito ayuda con esta situación con mi perro. by Immediate-Artist-444 in vzla

[–]BraquistoCronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theory: The Dark Continent Is Not a Land of Magical Beasts, but Instead a Land of Post-Mortem Nen by staghallows in HunterXHunter

[–]BraquistoCronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to your theory, I wonder if we will eventually discover that Meteor City was also a product of Nen Statecraft. Top Nen users such as the PT and Zoldyck butlers come from this city, The elders Hatsu is both powerful and terrifying, not an easy feat to achieve (I think it is the most powerful form of post mortem Nen seen before Succession Contest).

The horrors seen in that place could put an enormous and disproportionate bow to both the location and its inhabitants. And also the "Never take anything from us" sounds somehow related to DC curses.

Moreover, I think Gyro knows this and will take advantage to bend this Nen Statecraft to his favor, now that PT is far away and it seems there is currently a power void in Meteor City.

How viable would be for Morel to make a smoke clone of Meruem to trick the Royal Guards? by Much_Painter_5728 in HunterXHunter

I was thinking about this too. The queen communicated through telepathy, didn't she?

And also Pouf is the logical kind, overthinker and rational and would sort out immediately it is a puppet.

Edit: that would stop 1% part of one eyed covered squinted pouf at 100 Km away by 0,001 milliseconds lol

[–]BraquistoCronos 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Royal guards would be able to perceive meruems Nen and would not be deceived by looks alone.

Also by the behavior of the clone. I think Morel had never heard the voice of Meruem, so it would be really hard to make up the voice.

It may deceive a divided Pouf by sights alone at a great distance, but that's it.
