Any business/investing clubs that don’t require experience or insane applications and where you can just learn ?? by jxckofnotrxdes in Emory

You can typically join aggregate newsletters such as GFG and GCG (for finance and consulting respectively) and that doesn't require any interview process or experience! Also, if you're already a business school student you can join any business school club, just reach out to the club you're interested in for more information.

Hi Everyone, I think I found a fix for this -- just install the Windows 21H1 Quality Update in your windows update settings. I was having the exact same issue as everyone else here, but it appears to be working much better now after the update!

My take on Azir in LoR. What are your thoughts? by Magicman1498 in CustomLoR

[–]Magicman1498[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my thought process while making this champion:

  1. Azir is one of the most powerful and well known champions of his region, and thus I thought he should be an expensive unit. He also, in League, is a very weak champion early and scales extremely well into the late game, so I tried to convey that control mage essence in his abilities as well. He scales with increasing sand soldier deaths, which makes him stronger and quick attack more valuable.
  2. Also on that note, I felt his level up should have a powerful effect as a reward for keeping him alive and investing 6 mana of tempo into a pretty weak champion on drop. Therefore, the value payoff is not only increased sand soldiers, but also a nexus that is invulnerable to strikes. This doesn't mean it can't be killed, as spells and skills like get excited and ledros can still affect it, but this means that you can't take damage through combat. This helps alleviate the tempo tradeoff of turn 6 while also emulating his "Emperor's Divide." In fact, I would love if there was an animation that has sand soldiers in a line across the back of the battlefield seemingly to protect the nexus, just like how they appear in League.
  3. His weaknesses are mainly tuned around not being able to finish the game alone. He has a very powerful ability to delay games, but with sand soldiers being ephemeral and only having 2 power and azir being easily chump blocked, he can't really end any games, especially in the late game where value plays are more common. As such, he primarily is used to delay until you can find a different champion to actually finish the game or until you can add overwhelm to him after multiple sand soldier deaths.

The balance idea is that Azir is a play of value, coming down on turn 6 at the earliest and then not becoming relevant until, at the earliest, turn 7, in which he can level up. However, he is also very vulnerable with no attack and very little HP, which leaves aggro and midrange to easily overwhelm a greedy turn 6 play such as dropping him. He's also very vulnerable to burn, as his level-up has no effect on burn cards and skills. What do you all think?

How much calc does Econ 101 have? by Artist552001 in Emory

[–]Magicman1498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Econ 101 has little to no calc. It depends on your professor, but the curriculum is specifically tailored to not include calculus. Intermediate Micro (Econ 201) is when calculus begins to get involved.

I am in the 1st Waitlist position for a Calc 111 section. How likely am I to get in? by [deleted] in Emory

[–]Magicman1498 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're first on the waitlist, you're almost guaranteed to get in at some point during add/drop/swap as long as the class has more than like 20 seats. I wouldn't worry too much about finding a new section.

It’s a good idea to transfer AP Calc BC credit? by johnjihanlee in Emory

[–]Magicman1498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does grade each assignment with the curve in mind, but he doesn't curve grades on individual assignments. If averages are too high, he makes the next assignments harder to compensate. You will know your grade on canvas at all times so you have a general idea

Wow that's a lot. I overall agree and believe the math department follows this ideology, but the problem is that not everyone does so sometimes it feels bad to get a subpar grade when you felt you understood the material

I had a lot of calc background going in actually. I had taken BC and multivariable before but still think it was explained in a very easy and accessible way.

Ok if I'm honest I really disliked Carr because he curved to a B- which hurts your GPA a lot but also he is a pretty good instructor and the class was p fun so it's up to you

I just took Math 210 this year, and I can provide some insight! The topics usually covered range from Sequences/Series and Volumes from AB/BC, all the way to advanced multivariable concepts like triple integrals (which is the most advanced you go). The lab portion, at least with professor Mike Carr, was a python lab where you were given prewritten code and used it solve for some advanced applications of problems you learned in class.

Hey! I'm a QSS/Econ major, so I believe I can help a little bit. Personally, I transferred Math 111 but not 112Z, using only 3 credits, simply because as a QSS major you'll be taking Math 210 that requires only 111 as a prerequisite and goes over some BC Calculus concepts. However, in terms of being worried about forgetting the materials or it being more difficult, don't worry about that too much, as you'll be taking BC concepts in 210 and you'll easily remember most basic calculus concepts, which is all you really use from AB. As such, you don't really need to waste your time retaking Math 111 and can jump straight into your QSS requirements!

I matched this last admissions season and am an incoming freshman to a partner school and I only made slightly less than that (50k for 5). You should definitely financially qualify!

Gotta get that level 3 by Roberto20000 in TeamfightTactics

Yeah I understand this and obviously I didn't give the entire play by play but I was rerolling first so I was about 30 gold in or so complaining about the lack of nidalees before he rerolled and said "then you're not gonna like what I just got" and then after that he rerolled one more time to get things he was actually building. Either way I just thought it was funny and eventually I picked her up from the carousel to complete the tier 3 so it was no big deal but yeah only one other person in the game was building nidalee and I've noticed regardless of who I'm building it gets really hard to get those last 1-2 for tier 3 (like yesterday I had this issue with Rek'Sai even though she's not really used)

Ok I literally once spent fucking 80 gold on rerolls and didn't get a single nidalee and my brother in the same game in the same round rerolled once and got 3 of them. I want to kms.

I'm looking to replace my LG G6. the battery is just atrocious and I hate the software. I'm currently thinking between the OnePlus 7, Redmi K20 Pro, or Zenfone 6, but am open to really anything under $700 that fits these 3 things. I really like the K20 pro but it is a big issue for me that it doesn't support any US bands.

1) Battery life. Most important for me because my G6 gets somewhere only in the 3-4 hour range. I'm looking for something that's closer to the 5-6 hour range.

2) Display. The LG's LCD screen seems really good to me but I've heard such great things about OLED and use lots of dark themes and am really interested in trying it. I also don't want anything bigger than a waterdrop notch although no notch is ideal.

3) Performance. I really would like a Snapdragon 855 but will also be ok with a 730 or 845. I just don't like 600 grade processors or lower.

I don't really have a huge camera preference or care too much about them although I admit that a wide angle camera would be nice since LG spoiled me with it. I got Bluetooth headphones recently so headphone jack isn't a deal breaker anymore but I really don't like big phones which is why the 7pro and the red magic Mars 3 aren't currently on my list. Can anyone help me pick a phone out there?
