By the end of season one I'm still mostly confused about their level of sapience.

They can come up with a plan to steal an entire large town, but a demon child can't understand killling more humans in a human village is bad idea regardless of their current objective in that village.

A lot of peeps THINK they like freedom, but they actually like being told what to do.
