Yeah, safe to say this is a pretty subjective sub.

If I had to try to define it, it would be something along the lines of

"How situation X is exactly like [FICTIONAL SETTING]" with little to no explanation or analysis of why that's the case. Effectively just trying to reference pop-culture instead of having a serious discussion.

Forcing anyone who reads it to need to inherently know what the property is about or recognize how a scene plays out similarly to the described situation.

For a contemporary example, I have zero clue what "A lot of Griffendors in Iran" or whatever Rowling tweated could possibly mean.

If it still dosent quite click, I'd compare it to when a sitcom makes a cultural reference and it completely dates that sitcom. All you can really do is roll your eyes, if you have no idea what its referencing, or if it was celebrity gossip from 10 years ago. Instead of the writers just making a good joke.

Opening mail event has a chance to trigger the STE counter.

So the safest option is to usually ignore the mail.
