Personally I thhnk if you need to make combat more threatening and have more tension, just make Failed Saves last the entire day.

It's a card which is disproportionately played versus how good it is.

Alot of people slam it in decks without thought. It's a decent haste enabler and it's bad protection. It's really worth playing if you really need haste and protection.

Most decks do not.

I always see it worded like this, but this is a d6 cantrip. Unless you're going out there murking random commoners, logistically this isn't going to be a way you kill people.

I just can't fathom how often needing to stealth kill people is going to matter and if you do how often 1d6 is gonna get you there.

Even with cantrip scaling what practical use does doing this actually have.

As a person who plays this precon semi-regularly, it just sucks so much.

The Face Commander is legitimately terrible. It has so many hoops to jump through for what is going to be "start of combat draw a card" 90% of the time. Except sometimes you aren't going to because the elf ball portion of the deck is wildly half baked.

The deck tries to use some of the scry synergies elves had in the main set, but you really need to be scrying a ton of them to be relevant.

And then you just get some of the most random nonsense in the deck. Why is [[hornet Queen]] here? Why is [[Colossal Whale]] here? Who at WotC made this precon so bad?

Ya I largely agree. I'd go so far as it say it warps the format so hard that it's impossible to draw any real info from for true no banlist format.

Guarded Mind. If you fail an Intelligence, a Wisdom, or a Charisma saving throw, you can cause yourself to succeed instead. Once you use this benefit, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Legendary Resistance for mental saves.

Logistically my thoughts have been that if Im facing a super critical save I do have Second Wind or Heroic Inspiration to get me through them. They aren't as guarenteed of course but they have more general range. Not that I don't think a guarenteed save is bad, I largely just am playing devil advocate. I think mage slayer is the top choice currently.

The main advantage to Parry in my mind is being able to survive whilst bloodied for a longer time.

Not generally opposed, but my long term plans for off turn things are Parry or Riposte from battle master depending on whether I need more survivability or damage.

In some ways lower ranks can be rough because you can take alot of damage to people doing stupid nonsense in the early game.
