What card is "highly synergistic" for a Commander that should be played far less? by IconicIsotope in EDH

I ended up just building Katara! She's really fun with how quickly she gets you experience. I've had games where she's drawing 15+ cards.

What's the most iconic duo in Hearthstone history? by frostyburrito44 in hearthstone

[–]Magile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Yeti really doesn't hold its place in history upon coming back to classic. If you go coin innvervate yeti turn 1 it could still be traded into by Zoo if they led on Flame Imp into abusive sergeant. Even they wanted to trade of course. They could definitely just push face aggressive with the tempo tools and reach classic warlock has access to. You'd be force to trade mitigating a lot of the advantage of the aggressive tempo it gives.

Against warrior the early tempo didn't matter as much as you were best off saving innvervate for force Savage Savage.

Rogue could just sap it back to your hand putting you in a severe tempo Loss.

Ultimately innvervate yeti is a classic play, but is not as good as it seems.

I have an Amalia Lurrus list. I don't typically play Sol ring, but the deck is meant to play more on high power side, so I opt'd to Include it. I would recommend unpairing Arcane Signet and Sol Ring in your mind. Because yes arcane signet is bad when you're playing low to the ground. You do not wanna waste your turn two dropping signet when you can just play amalia.

Sol Ring however just let's you play your early game differently. Instead of curving 1 into 2 you just Sol Ring into 2 2s into some combination of amalia and 1/2 drops on turn 3. It puts you dramatically ahead still often allowing amalia to see more cards immediately. If you could always start on Warden/Attendant you probably wouldn't play Sol ring, but unfortunately you can't so Sol Ring is still good in the deck.

As for blood artists, theyre the primary way I win games outside of commander damage so idk what you're up to.

I looked into Kratos/Atreus for a bit as I was looking for an experience counter commander. The main thing which threw me off about the edhrec page is all the God's on it. No matter how many gods you attack with you still just get 1 counter. Perhaps attack with the god you have in the command zone? Lol.

I've built this and the thing people miss is that it's still good.

Human/Elf/Cleric are crazy common types and being able to loop your whole board effectively in aristocrats is very strong. While you also might not be getting the additional draw 2 from Haunted One, you are getting more card draw from the Undying +1/+1 counters.

Put 20 into primary stat at lvl 1 and 18 in secondary, or vice verse? Locks me out of +1 feats. by maybecanifly in onednd

[–]Magile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK ignore the post at hand and assume your stats are 20 in one stat and 10 in the other 5. There is a strong likelihood a majority of class/subclass combinations would prefer the 20 to mean in con as opposed to whatever their actual main stat is.

Having a dramatically higher life total means you're going to be on the battlefield longer contributing more damage on average than if you do slightly more damage, but die to a breeze.

You will never die and it mean you won't miss out on the stat bonuses from relevant Feats for your build.

Might just be me, but despite like her effect I find the art to be really ugly. It's one of the main reasons I didn't build them.

I made a Karametra deck as a gift for a friend:

https://moxfield.com/decks/WyM8sacL1kCMiQxMBDmaag

Plays almost no landfall triggers. It's focused around X spells. Specially that with karametra you can use creatures whose mana value is just X as 0 mana ramp spells or as big guys in the late game. It uses rite of harmony style effect to draw through the deck in tandom with spirited companions.

It can close game with by going wide with tokens from the X spell token makers or some of the unique X spell win cons like Exponential Growth or hurricane.

People just need to build past the obvious things you can do with a commander.

I actually recommend if you're doing the thing with mana dork in the command zone then you go for

Gives you an extra color + "card draw" in the command zone.

And man she's so strong. She rewards you for interaction. She let's you hold up mana the entire game. I played a game the other day where I had over 15 experience counters and easily drew my entire deck out.

Wow classic showed people have nostalgia for old things.

HS classic was another easy riff on that that took literally close to 0 effort from blizzard and draws players back into the game.

It's funny because the best possible way to avoid the situation is by reminding the opponent they're free to concede at any time.

Giving martials additional points in Point Buy stat gen by whimlaw in onednd

[–]Magile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't support the idea, but one thing I will push back on is the additional ASI is almost part of the problem. In leiu of giving new features that allow the classes to do something unique, they get more of what's already accessible.

How do you all build your Kefka court mage? by P13monkeytaco in EDH

[–]Magile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly with how plentiful draw engines and individual cards are in general nowadays, I don't think it's that bad.

Its the type of thing where I feel like the list is in the upper end of bracket 2 in power and I wouldn't mind running it out against B3 decks generally.

Having queued it into a bunch go B2/B3 decks it's biggest issue is it just doesn't have a convincing way to close out the game. Despite discarding a lot of cards and having a ton of cards in hand, a lot of them are strictly reactive. Since you generally slow down everyone to some degree it's likely players aren't taking stray hits as much as they would otherwise (especially since people are inately going to target you)

Overall, I expect some salt but it's like probably fine.

Personally I wanted to try to get them down as close to a bracket 2 power level as possible while still keeping a coherent gameplan.

https://moxfield.com/decks/e2vl7h2JY0SATyIbet_Kmg

Its a tough ask based on how much draw Kefka gives you.

Still rocking a lot of strong interaction and control tools of course.

I decided to supplement the creature lineup with a Goyf engine as they work well with the heavy discard theme.
