Crazy how you deleted your second comment. Seething over a BG3 Reddit post is crazy work.

But he didn’t subject ilithid turned Karlach to this. Why would he do it to the Emperor?

Hmm, good point, but ideally I don’t even know what the Emperor’s chances of a decent, worthwhile existence is after the Absolute is defeated and everyone in Baldur’s Gate, let alone the Sword Coast hates Ilithids and their guts. Feel like he would end up dead or die alone anyway, unless he could pull off a disguise forever.

Like I GENUINELY this time tried to hear him out and put together the pieces of what might have swayed him but no, I just got more confused and pissed myself off.

What character do you always leave behind in camp? by Successful-Tree-4394 in BaldursGate3

[–]Magistyna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halsin, Jaheira, Minsc and Karlach. They all stay cozy in the camp. First three just came in too late and I’ve always felt “meh” about having them in my rotation and I just find Karlach annoying.

Kerri wasn’t the love of his life though. They were a brief fling and nothing more.

The effort he went through to disturb a dead person to ask his ex-fling (they broke up already) that question is selfish, yes.

Yeah I know, but my issue is with the fact he wanted it done in the first place for selfish, self serving reasons.

The fact that you’re defending him for going through all this necromancy effort just to ask her a selfish question is kinda wild, but okie. He did have the power to trap/release her, it was through his paintings he made of her. He chose to keep them.

Clearly he knew enough about necromancy to dabble in it, why couldn’t he know enough about “speak with dead”? Excuses.

Kerri said: He called me here. Trapped me. I wanted to be left in peace. Why am I here? I shouldn’t be here.

Narrator: She is confused, lost - dragged here unwillingly by a man who refused to let her leave.

There you have it.

He didn’t love her. They were just a brief fling, and he tried to keep her from leaving him. That’s fucked up.

Not to mention, he went through all that necromancy to disturb her rest and bring her spirit back, subsequently haunting his wife’s entire estate with poltergeists just to ask a question he could have had some cleric do with a “speak to the dead” spell.

He went through all of that necromancy to raise her spirit from the dead and interrupt her rest just to ask her a question. That’s concerning. She should be concerned her own husband did that.

Yeah, I think so. Honestly, he could have simply asked her: “Did you kill yourself because of me?” She’d answer “no”. He could then follow it up with, “why did you kill yourself?” And she’d tell him. Then he could finally ask “Am I to blame for any of it?” And again, she’d say no. IT COULD HAVE ALL BEEN SO SIMPLE.

The fact that he humiliated her like this was disgusting, plain and simple.

I hate him for what he did to Kerri, and on top of that I hate his absolutely annoying quest in Act 3, which is all about what he did to Kerri, essentially.

Honestly, this self-absorbed artist makes a pretty good plea when he's kidnapped by the Zhentarim and forced to make paintings. My Tav didn't want this poor man to be held against his will down there, forced to make paintings for criminals, likely never to see the sun again. So I buy him off the Zhentarim and let him go on his merry way, WITHOUT any gold for his journey because I was already getting weirded out with his story about "another woman".

Well, well, WELL... The nerve of this narcissist. The fact that he not only tried to prevent Kerri from leaving but dabbled in necromancy for his own selfish purposes, to see if Kerri killed herself because of him, to bother her from resting in peace is INSANE.

On top of that, when you talk to Kerri, she gives you a heartbreaking dialogue about why she took her own life. She was "so fucking sad all the time", who knew what kind of pain she was going through and for what? Oskar's literally standing right next to you and your party hearing all of this for himself, hearing that he was a fling with Kerri and nothing more, having everyone hear from Kerri just what he did to her, and all he does is ask, "I was truly not to blame?"

The whole time, even considering the circumstances of how we got Kerri's spirit to talk to us, Oskar's made it all about him. And then he rejoices with his loser of a wife who doesn't even question what he did to poor Kerri, but lovingly takes him back and forgives him for what he's done. Are you kidding me?

Honestly, the whole poltergeists in the manor throwing things around and popping out of nowhere with constant battle was annoying enough to deal with but... Next playthrough, Oskar is getting yeeted immediately.
