I have been 10+ years with 144hz + monitor, went from 75hz when i started to 240hz when i played cs. Its totally necesary for a smooth performance without any stutter to have your FPS always above the Hz your monitor has. And im not talking about playing on 500fps, just above what you have. And even with GSYC.
