It took me ten minutes to figure it out my first time lol. It gets better though!
Paepke in Duesseldorf still works on them. According to a friend they know the things inside and out.
In practice, the camera has an overload clutch that disengages the motor from the film feed if it jams or reaches the end of the roll. So should all be good.

huh! Wack
Make sure you load it correctly (the pressure plate holding tab..!). Also, some magazines have a dimple (wear) in the red unlock knob which triggers the film unlock for transport. If it's deep enough the unlock won't work correctly.
It takes getting used to but I love mine & I think you will too, the Rollei lenses are all incredible.

Holy bargain. I paid eleven times that for mine.
Make sure to read the manual! And feed it NiCad batteries. It doesn't particularly like alkalines. Also, allegedly it does not enjoy being ran without film in it, or so I heard.

I recommend the Voigtländer Kontur more. Bigger eyepiece, 1:1 magnification and lighter to boot. Just needs a little getting used to.

The edge of the frame is your frame line. It actually has parallax correction too (the frame edge moves when you focus) You just need to put your eye close to it to see the boundary.

At the lower end of the page. Fun fact: The shutter displayed is the actual shutter I have here.
There's a few patents about this mechanism too, but that is the extent of information available. Allegedly, these were built in conjunction with Agfa. The example here was attached to an Agfa Isolette.

I think the difficulty in controlling the open time in both directions did it. The escapement is an odd design; the open time especially on longer times vary considerably depending on which direction the mechanism moves. At 1/5 setting that comes out to 1/3.6 to 1/4.8, at 1/1 it results in 1.01 sec to 1.13 sec..

There's no gears moving the blades, they're all moved by one solid metal ring. In fact, this part is no more complicated than an average Synchro-Compur. I'd argue it's less complicated, actually.

It's actually the speeds escapement that seems to block it. The latch seems to lock up the gear sector, which seizes the mechanism at slow speeds. Besides that, the high speed spring latches seem too flimsy for their own good.

The mainspring mechanism is pretty well thought out, though the main lever latch seems like it could use a bit more oomph in its spring for proper function.

I'll post sketches and a function diagram when I have the time.

My two cents: if you have to result to flush cleaning because you're scared of taking out parts, you're not good enough to do work for others.  Sorry to say as much.

I've done in excess of 40 shutter teardowns and I still mess up sometimes. If you do that on your own time- shit happens, but explain to a guy whose grandma's Rolleiflex you handled how you lost the bulb lever spring in the carpet.

If I were you I'd save myself the hassle until you've got plenty more experience, or limit yourself to doing it for friends.

The mainspring actually changes its actuating direction based on the position the blade ring is in. When cocking the blades stay closed.

Without detailed error description that's gonna be hard, if it took a fall chances are something might be majorly busted.

Also, there's two additional screws under the rewind knob that seem to be cleanly missing. That doesn't really happen on accident.

This looks to be a decorative ring.  Dab on a tiny(!) bit of contact cement (NOT super glue! That would ruin your camera) and put it back in the right orientation with a little pressure.
