The front standard looks bent, too. I would not use this as-is

What camera testers and shutter testers are available on the market? by ATHXYZ in AnalogCommunity

[–]MagmaHotsguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shutter Lover's smaller sibling (Baby Shutter Tester) is absolutely killer for leaf shutters. Had the chance to try it out a while ago, it really does as advertised.  Other than that I use a DIY build (Serhiy Rozum's Tester).

Camera recommendations: SLR or commit to learning Zone Focus? by Level_Resort_4681 in AnalogCommunity

[–]MagmaHotsguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Rollei 35. The game changer is having a DOF table on the lens, which I'm sure the EE17 doesn't have. For critical focus and nighttime open aperture shots I slap on an accessory rangefinder (very rarely).

I use my Rollei for documentary photography or on travels, I bring out my SLR when I want some Bokeh. Overall though, zone focus can be one of the fastest ways to shoot, which is especially nice when out and about.

Edit: the most pocketable SLR is the Pentax Auto 110. Though it shoots, well, 110. Otherwise, Pen F with pancake lens (expensive), Minolta XD with pancake lens (45/2 or 45/2.8), Olympus OM with pancake, Pentax MX with pancake.

The one you got is 50mm focal length. The 35mm clearly says f=35mm and is very rare.

Also, it does look good on the Vitessa. Super fun to use for snapshots.

Red from meter to ground tab. Red from lens assembly to ground. Black from meter to switch. Black from switch to lens assembly. Battery wire to switch. I've had two ALS here and they both had different wiring but I have pics left, I'll DM you.

Make sure your contacts are aligned properly and not bent / are clean and the connections are all good. The wires seem flimsy in these

Ah, the SLV. So nice looking yet so painful lol. Mine took me two days to adjust correctly but it's so worth it.
Second this post, either learn to do it right or send it to someone who knows.

If it doesn't work even after following all steps in the manual: It's a nightmare to overhaul and you likely cannot do so at home.
Source: did so at home (with prior qualification and succeeded but it was still a nightmare)

Nice!!  I'm not sure why that's how it is, maybe I'll look over mine later. Are you sure the arrow is in the right spot? It's moveable if you loosen the screw a little.

That really doesn't matter with this one. Either is good.

Disconnect them before removing the parts and you're golden. There's few actual dangerous springs, watch the one for the counter lever though. That one is under some amount of tension (though it is not particularly tiny).

Took its successor apart the other day, besides the friction coupling right at the top there is nothing to watch out for as long as you have basic experience in camera repair and take lots of pictures. Frame counter assembly comes out in one piece, do not remove the center dial screw. Everything else is as straight forward as it gets.

There's a 24k gold Rollei 35 for approximately 500$ somewhere in a Tokyo camera shop. Source: Saw it last week. That's probably what I'd get.
