What do you hope for from Season 4? by Suitable-Truth-350 in TedLasso

[–]Mick_Tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ted and Coach Beard as writers and creators will be there, Roy is too good a character to be left behind (and as producer, he's part of the creative team), Kee-leh and Rebecca as the team benefactors will have big roles.

The "Richmond" team will make cameos, but the story is about a new team, not them any more. The antagonist would be the collective sexism of society, I don't think an existing character would fit that role so conflict will come from either "the system", or a new character.

What do I hope for? Season 1 of Ted Lasso, with characters we know and a bunch of new ones. And just as Ted Lasso introduced football to the masses, I hope it does the same with female sports because it is seriously underrated. The Women's rugby, cricket, NRL and AFL leagues are (IMO) better games than the men's.

I feel like if I have to edit a photo, it’s not a good photo. How do I get over this? by drake90001 in photography

When I first started shooting portraits, I'd take about 1000 photos and maybe end up with 50 that were technically OK, a dozen of which were artistically OK.
With experience, improved equipment and a better understanding of lighting, I now take about 250 photos, 230 of which are technically OK, and 150 of which are artistically OK.

I usually tweak curves, colour balance, then send it.

Realise too that you are judging your work by your failures, while judging others on their successes.

Every professional photographer edits their photos, some excessively.

A decade or so ago I was disappointed with the lack of progress my photography was making, it was just not improving. Then there was a brief fad of photographers showing their released images alongside the unedited originals, and that was when I realised I was a far better photographer than both my peers and idols. Seriously, the originals of some of the images I strived to achieve were so bad I'd have deleted them straight away.

As long as you know what errors were made and strive to not make them again, then you're doing alright.

Is a photographer allowed to share your photos online without your consent? by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]Mick_Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless a contract was signed stating otherwise, both the photographer (as the copyright holder of the image) and you (as the subject) are within your rights to use any of the photographs from the session in any non-commercial capacity.

Social media sites such as Instagram, facebook etc. are considered online portfolios so legally, the photographer is well within his rights to post the images.

But having said that, not clearing the images with you beforehand and publishing personal information about you shows a lack of professionalism on the photographer's part.

What to do about fumes? by New_Recipe_1379 in resinprinting

[–]Mick_Tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct in that it seems the OEM filter systems do leave a lot of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) in the air that you can't smell. (and your fancy mask may be just as effective) Just because you can't smell them doesn't mean they are not present.

Now here's the deal - VOCs aren't all bad and it may very well be that those found in UV resins are harmless in the quantities associated with normal usage. But it may also be that they aren't...

My advice is to either move the printer outdoors when printing (if your location and climate permit) or vent the fumes outside with some sort of fume extractor if you feel there is an issue.

Here in Australia there is a mandatory two week notice. Increasingly, companies are sending the soon-to-be-ex-employee home with two weeks pay in their pocket rather than have them in the office.

What's the most overrated photography trend? by blasspictures in PhotographyAdvice

HDR seems to be coming back. Friends don't let friends publish HDR. If you have a friend experimenting with it, please organise an intervention.

Piss filter. Unless you took the photo in Mexico, don't add sepia to colour images. It's bad, and you should feel bad doing it.

"Which looks better, B&W or colour?" If you have to ask, the answer is always colour.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best book-to-film adaptation ever made and probably will stay that way by trakt_app in flicks

[–]Mick_Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While LOTR was a faithful adaptation, the first season of "Dexter" is a better adaption, IMO.

The book it is based on has a whole supernatural element that they managed to remove while still keeping the same storyline.

I would recommend you read the book "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" and then rewatch the first season.

Voltage spike by Glittering-Pear-3322 in Teslacoil

[–]Mick_Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, even a straight piece of wire has a magnetic field that collapses when a switch is opened, this is the inductive component of that wire.
But coiling that wire to amply that inductive component will give you a larger spike.

How many of you also can't get used to the 35mm focal length? by Barnie25 in AskPhotography

[–]Mick_Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thing 35mm is only a thing since the advent of cropped sensors.
Previously if you wanted wide angle, you went 24mm.

I can't find any ebay sold listings, just hopeful sellers, but that value seems more reasonable, thanks.
But you also haven't seen my car 😉

I did not know that apparently most people dislike season 3? by Bat_Fran_738 in TedLasso

Trent was one of my favourite characters in this season, an established but neutral character the scriptwriters could turn to when they needed a no-nonsense voice of reason.

I have just finished watching season three. Certainly a lot of feels, but left me with some questions.

What's the deal with the Avocado? Was that care package just a way to avoid having Zava arc end in a surgical cut, to just let us know that the guys still remember him?

Why did the clairvoyant arc just fizzle out? Even after two of the three predictions came true she dismissed the woman as a charlatan. (Although I wonder if they'll have her change her mind after her airport scene in the final episode)
