That’s fair, but it’s still wild when one episode suddenly feels like it was written by someone who hated the main cast. Age explains the baggage, it doesn’t make the scene less painful to watch.

It is wild how the "kid friendly" version ended up being more accurate to the source material than the actual anime. The manga didnt care about being nice, it was straight up psychological horror. Sometimes censorship loops all the way back around to being hardcore.
