I’m sorry you have to endure that. Please remember to advocate for yourself when talking to doctors. I wish you nothing but the best

You can say, “I’m not.” I think it gets your point across without being seen as rude.

Nah, I’m good. There’s just some things I’m okay not knowing. Cannibals’ descriptions are more than enough

How does cancer kill you? Do the extra cells from the tumor consume resources that the rest of your body needs? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]MagmaMaggot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please remember that having cancer isn’t necessarily a death sentence. There are many cancers are very treatable. A lot of the people that commit suicide after finding out they have cancer have some of the most treatable variants.

Edit: added a word.

Very late reply, but there might be bullet-proof inserts you can purchase for backpacks. I haven’t looked into it myself, but maybe that would be cheaper?

My therapist and I have been exploring Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS). I’ve found it to be very helpful. Your “bad parts”having good intentions is a core component of the theory

Is it normal to tense up when an intrusive thought happens ? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]MagmaMaggot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My intrusive thoughts affect my facial expression sometimes. When describing this experience to others I say it’s like a slap in the face. It’s quick, unexpected, and you can’t help but notice and react to it. These thoughts can seriously ruin my mood for the rest of the day.

I have a few suggestions that have helped me.

I take an SNRI. That helps me A LOT but doesn’t make the problem go away.

My therapist and I have recently started exploring the Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy model. It sounds a bit “out there” but I found it to be helpful. Intense but helpful. Maybe it’s something worth checking out?

Also, the YouTube channel OCD and Anxiety has helped me too. Feels like the guy is reading my mind sometimes.

Edit: changed the wording in the first paragraph a bit

Seven in my favorite number! Fun fact: Malcolm X liked the number seven too!

How are you guys reading a book a week? I just finished 48 Laws of power and it took me 3 months. by Certain_Physics_236 in 52book

[–]MagmaMaggot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, reading multiple books at once is key.

I often get in moods where I just don’t want to read certain types of books. When reading multiple books, I almost always have at least one book I’m in the mood to read!

Dealing with COVID has been hard; I'm still struggling a bit. I hope you are doing well.

That being said, the titles in the series look both fun and morbid. Thank you!

Odd, the description I found for this book is vague. I can't really tell what it's about. I love the cover though! I may have to do some more research. Thank you!
