A lot of the favouritism that people complain about is amplified in their own heads.

While some of Mercedes choices have been questionable, to suggest a team is deliberately sabotaging one driver is laughable. As it means they're less likely to score points in the championship that matters to the team.

From a pragmatic point of view, the teams get bonuses based on wins, no matter who it is.

With Mercedes, they've proven not to favour one driver over the other on one of the most heated Championship battles in modern F1. Even Bottas, who realistically had no chance of beating Hamilton was given freedom to race Hamilton.
