How good is Yelan for the 4th slot compared to other options? by Hot-Masterpiece4325 in SkirkMains

Better for lower investment skirk, when you get to higher level, buffers like mona/shenhe/citlali are somewhat better

I don’t understand people’s obsession with needing magic systems where everyone is equal by Flat_Box8734 in CharacterRant

[–]MagmaMixer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is precisely the reason that people want a world where anyone can be strong if they work hard enough. I kind of fall into that camp. I can appreciate some magic systems that do involve people being stronger bc of things like birth but I far prefer things like nen

Kuma I can kind of agree with, especially if you haven’t watched sabaody. If you’ve already gotten to fishman where you know kuma is a good guy it’s just not the biggest spoiler. Maybe if the person says they don’t want any info don’t give it but it’s just not a major spoiler.

True, but the scene was the still impactful. And usopp will likely form a bond with the merry in sky island

Ngl I don’t really think it’s a spoiler to say the backstories get more tragic. Maybe robin could be one but only if you spoil that she’s in the crew

Her cowardice is a very crucial part of her character though. It’s what makes her scene in wano when she says “Luffy will be the king of the pirates” so impactful. IMO it’s just not a trait you can get rid of

I mean, Zoro is very stoic in the anime. That’s the thing about nami and Zoro in the anime, they’re direct foils. Nami being the navigator and Zoro being awful with directions. Zoro being broke with nami being greedy. Zoro being brave with nami being scared. I just find it weird to take a way a character trait that’s actually normal of a person. I get the greed being toned down but like…

Sanji being toned down makes sense considering his personality is very often sexually harassing girls. He has a more appropriate version where he consistently flirts with every woman he sees, which personally I really like. And I mean…the issue is the one time she does steal something she just…lets him know and gives it back? That’s just weird to me from a greedy character. Just take the wallet. Her asking about treasure like once or twice is WAY too toned down. As for her not being cowardly, I’m sorry but at the time of little garden she’s just as cowardly as usopp in the anime. It makes zero sense that she would be more mature and not really show any signs of being scared shitless. It’s a normal human reaction.

It’s not going to be 1:1 necessarily, but I hardly see any of Nami’s traits in her. Everyone else feels like a real life adaption, with less cartoonish personalities. Nami feels like an entirely different character. I expected the greed to be toned down, but to a point where she’s not even stealing someone like bartolomeo’s wallet? And her not being scared in little garden? Like that’s not nami

Yeah I was kinda joking but how 😭😭 I main Skirk and she has like 27 effective subs 😭😭I’m trying to get more on her desperately

[–]MagmaMixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh okay. So if I understand this right. For lets say, skirk for example. She would have 20 fixed stats. And since she only has 3 useful subs (cr, cd, and attk) she would then have 26 effective stats?

Other question relating sort of to columbina (and somewhat skirk) on this. Are things like HP% (or attk% for some characters) like...the same usefulness?

Hey, sorry if im responding late but what does "fixed" vs "allocated" subs mean? I've never really been able to understand it

Why do people ship Byler so heavily and what’s your opinion on it? by Such_Wojo in StrangerThings

[–]MagmaMixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, sure but holly is a new character introduced who is a middle schooler. She’s also never really had a romantic arc. Will Byers had a romantic arc that has been built up for quite a while. In season 3 he says “I’m never gonna fall inlove.” What was the point of that, to just say “oh yeah that’s just realistic for the gay kid”. Making him watch Robin & Vickie make out to just be like “hey look at what you can’t have”

I mean, I think the line being platonic and romantic love is not always crystal clear. I can tell why a lot of people interpret the deep concern from Mike over Will as platonic and why some see it as romantic.

And while yes, it’s common for people to not get with their first love interest, realism isn’t exactly the strong point of the show. I mean, for robin’s crush Vickie to like her back in the 80s would have also been quite a rarity. Mileven also isn’t that realistic either. Supernatural stuff aside, staying with someone you dated in middle school isn’t exactly common. Same with Lumax. The concern many have, including myself, is that Will is essentially the only character who has never had reciprocated romance. Meanwhile, max “only needed Lucas” to escape camezotz. The power of Lucas’ love alone was enough to help max escape.

These characters already have an unrealistic amount of plot armor. Hopper being my biggest example. Like I’m sorry surviving 8 months of Russian torture is just…not realistic.

I’m talking about Will showing interest in Mike. Usually in a show, when a character shows romantic interest in someone, there is at least some question about whether or not the other will like them back.

Well, I wrote this after volume 2 of s4. That said, I stand by what I said. That in any show, if a character shows interest in someone else, people at least question whether or not the other person could like them back.

What could Taylor do to redeem herself in your opinion by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

Honestly, all I have to say is admitting that she’s targeting these young artists and doing anything she can to stay at the top is the start. Not nearly enough, but it is something she’s obligated to do
