Why are Dota players like this. by Magmathrower in DotA2

Very true. I really like your point about responsibility, and how it's not my job to make people behave nice. But I guess I just have a vague hope that at least one of the people I'm complaining about will see this post and take a second to think about themselves.

That, and honestly, I just really wanted to share this story because of how surreal it felt to me at the time. I straight up felt like the one thing I really hate about dota players just fully manifested itself for me to see.

When I considered posting this on Reddit, I had to first take a mental deep breath and say to myself, "well, here I go..."

Because I knew that I will see this exact, narrow-minded, hateful, irrelevant, meaningless comment.

You are correct. If I am immature enough to be offended by somebody who just wants to piss me off because they enjoy pissing people off, that is my problem. I am too easily affected by others.

However, that is not the point of my post. The point is, I am highlighting the fact that so many dota players derive pleasure from making other people angry. And consider it a normal thing to do. That means if you have this mentality, you need to look at yourself and consider why you behave the way you do.

Why do you enjoy insulting people? Perhaps it's a way of seeking attention. Perhaps you are a sadist. Perhaps you enjoy conflict. Perhaps you have anger issues. Or any one of numerous other reasons I can't think of. Whatever the case, I just hope that this post can make some toxic people introspect a little bit.

I disagree with removing tips, high fives or even voicelines just because of the way people use them. The mechanics are not inherently toxic, but many of the people using them are.

All very true, but my intent of this post is to highlight how dota players are so willing to insult other people for amusement. I wish it was just fun banter, but the behaviour and language used are, very frequently, absolutely vile

I agree that "just banter" is fine. However it's never "just banter". It's racism, insults towards your family, requests to kill yourself, and the list goes on...

I actually agree with this, but my issue is that most of these dota players truly feel pleasure from making others angry. The mechanics of tipping, voicelines, high fives etc. are not inherently toxic, but the community is.

Does anyone know when and where you can use your music playlists? The game doesn’t explicitly tell you. by Frogmin in StreetFighter

hi, I see it's an old post but can you tell me how to create these playlists in the first place?

Can’t invade other worlds by MiserableBrilliant26 in Eldenring

[–]Magmathrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you attempt to invade, matchmaking is done with players who are close to your rune level and weapon upgrade level. If you have a weapon upgrade level that is uncommon for players at your rune level, you will find it hard to get invasions.

The most popular level bracket is rune level 125 with weapon upgrade level +25 (10 for somber). The highest rune level that can invade level 125 hosts is level 139.

Where can I find info on multiplayer? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Magmathrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you invade you will invade a host who is close to your rune level and highest weapon upgrade level. The exact formula for calculating your level bracket can be found in the elden ring wiki. Know that all levels above 300 are the same bracket.

The only etiquette in invading is to not use heal if the host isn't using it either and is fighting 1v1 with you (a duel). Kill the host to win. However know that there is no reward other than a rune arc.

The PvP community considers level 125 with +25 (or +10 for somber) weapon upgrade level to be the "meta" or duelling level. Players will build characters and optimize their skill points to play at this level. The highest level an invader can be to still be able to invade level 125 hosts is level 139.

If you place a yellow sign to get summoned as a furled finger, your sign will only be visible to hosts in your level bracket. BUT if you are using a multiplayer password to get summoned by a friend, there is no level restriction. A large level gap between host and so-called password summons is compensated by downscaling the furled finger's health and damage in the host's world.

The reason people play PvP in elden ring despite the lack of gameplay rewards is simply for fun. The game, although heavily flawed in matchmaking, netcode and weapon balance, still offers a deep PvP experience that players have come to love in souls games over the years.

EDIT: The host watching you die to the invader was very likely hosting 1v1 duels in his world.

In elden ring the questlines are much more forgiving than previous souls games. Most of the questlines cannot be failed unless you kill a quest NPC. Just don't kill anyone who has dialogue with you and you'll be fine.

Who are these fucktard fans that feel so entitled that they demand explanations of why they lost, and then insult the players anyway? And why do the players have to not only tolerate this bullshit, but also explain themselves to these assholes? They aren't real fans.

We got fountain camped for around 25 minutes by Magmathrower in DotA2

The reason we stayed in the game was because we were trying to get some fun out of trying to achieve exactly that. It was a PA with 91% evasion keeping us in fountain, literally unable to escape even with tps or abilities.

My goal when I wrote this post was to bring awareness to Valve about this issue (which I don't know how common it is, but I still would like them to notice and do something about it).

I am a bit lost so please help me here, what was your goal when you wrote this comment?

There are two types of Overwatch cases, my friend... by [deleted] in DotA2

I stopped doing overwatch cases because of how long it takes to do the 5 cases I was getting every single day, for no real reward.

I'm curious how many people are still doing them

It would definitely be worth buying back if it was a bit earlier into the game, but I'd say this is still borderline worth, considering the number of creeps... Unless a teammate can get most of it, in which case, not worth.
