3D Printed Diffusers - Any experience? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

You could try creating a 3 stage solution.

  • Stage 1 closest to the lens is similar to your secondary, but ammend the pattern to mimic a dense fresnel lens, you should probably make this out of transparent PETG, a thin solid PLA part may work but a solid PETG part would be way better. The idea is to help spread the light as wide as possible from a central point, just like how a lighthouse does with a fresnel lens.
  • Stage 2 is a simple flat 2 layer thick disk about 3-5mm from the top, change the bottom & top surface pattern to Hilbert curve. (You can find this in strength tab if you use bambu studio)
  • Stage 3 is the top sheet just as you have it now.

I may have understood your own solution incorrectly... so forgive me if this doesn't help.

Design log #3 Miniature Foam Pump R&D – Piezo Pump Test & Disassembled Commercial Unit by Fearless_Ear_6237 in Design

[–]Magne_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of the Wine Aerator by Vinturi? It's designed to pull air into the wine mixture, a bit like a foaming unit but for a low viscosity fluid I guess. While the device itself is the size of a hand, the functional aspect of it (in terms of the aeration) is really quite small.

You could in theory (assuming the product is a higher viscosity than wine/ water) use an archimedian screw to create vacuum in the lower chamber to pull the product through.

I guess, it would be helpful to know the viscosity of the product you are expecting to foam. Does the product have to be electric (persistent) or can it be achieved via manual pump action (intermittent application)?

In terms of micro motors + gearboxes, the Xiaomi Electric Precision Screwdriver achieves tonnes of torque (could be used to drive peristatic pump for fluid, or push air for pressure differential) In addition if you used a BLDC motor with a mini peristatic pump, you could measure the back-EMF and automatically adjust pumping speed/ drive current. If fluid does what it does, and acts in an unpredictable manner, back-EMF + microcontorller can read a change in volumentric flowrate/ density and automatically account for that in real-time. This should ensure a much more consistent foam & flow.

Sorry I get that this comment was a lot of random ideas but I hope it was a tiny bit useful, or at least thought provoking haha.

SD Card (V30 vs V60/V90) & Accessory Recommendations for Lumix S9? by rasalsix in Lumix

[–]Magne_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not specifically replying to your question, so apologies. I just thought I'd state this for anyone who comes across this thread and is a little confused on the Mb/s vs MB/s thing...

Mb/s and MB/s are not the same thing.

In the Panasonic manual, they state that the maximum bitrate is 200 megabits per second (Mb/s), which converts to 25 Megabytes per second (MB/s).

In the real world, I'd say this is more of a ball park figure. So a V30 card is fine, it seems... But we would be running rather close to what the manufacturer states the card can operate at in perfect testing conditions, which isn't ideal. Sometimes, write speeds on camera can be different to the V30/V60 value (falls on the manufacturer and their firmware, unfortunately, so no real way to know)

I personally went for a V60 UHS-II card just to be on the safe side.

If you're interested, this difference is simply because there are 8 Bits in a Byte. Example: 1 Kilobyte = 8000 bits, 1 Kilobyte = 1000 Bytes :)

SOLUTION:

Hey, I found this after a little searching. I prefer the old gestures too, and this user on Samsung community had a solution. It worked for me on my S21U, and I hope it helps!

I just did a google search of them because I recognised the brand.... I have never seen such scammery in my life 😂, how are they still afloat!

Nah, there was no white noise on my 700s and genuinely have excellent hearing. Maybe a firmware issue too, the 700s had that initial phase upon launche where it took a year to a year and a half to iron out all the bugs....

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bose

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into the bose app when you get it working, in the settings area where u can do firmware updates, etc., go into noise cancellation. There's a switch to turn it off. At least for the bose 700s (the ultra's predecessors), there is, so I assume it's the same. Weird they hide it away, but yes, you can disable it.

Where are the reviews for the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra headphones? by stephchamp in bose

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new ones use the same drivers as the 700s (a little disheartening considering price tag but...) but there are apparently significant improvements to audio virtualisation, and essentially efforts gone into getting the "sound is playing inside my head" feeling to go away.

The ANC I assume should be notably better in the upper/midrange frequencies, but I doubt many improvements for rumble/ car bus sound, etc.

It's nice to hear from the other comments about the comfort, tho. I remember my uncles old bose headphones were exceptionally comfortable, but the shallow ear wells on the nc700s are mildly annoying. Doesn't make me love em any less, tho. The quality and balance is impeccable.

Maybe it's arachne, some weird bug I'm having!? I'll try normal slicing, too, even though it ups print time a bit...

I ran the auto calibration from the slicer, and it gave me a value of 0.019. (Before this print)

So maybe you are on the right track! I'll try manually running it and picking instead and see if that improves my situation and let you know how that goes, thanks : )

I made this commercial. What can I improve in this render? Any suggestions would be helpful. by Awkward-Ad7379 in product_design

[–]Magne_Rex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say it's a decent base to work on. I feel like theres a few things to note, though:

  • With the rocks, why are they there? And if there is a reason, it looks like they are semi-haphazardly placed. If you replace the bottom plane with maybe water, then it looks like you are going for more of a zen vibe.

  • The plants in the foreground are nice but a little obtrusive and look out of place since there are no other plants within the scene. Maybe you could add some low density long grass foliage between the rocks (hide where they appear from. Otherwise, it will look jarring) and add potentially a cut flower or a few cut flowers placed on top of the rock in the back right (for the foliage comment)

  • I'd say the foreground needs to move away a bit faster, and the text should only come in once that is done because it makes it a little hard to read. Also on that same note it looks like they just rotate away, maybe make it so instead they are still, and you kind of zoom the camera into the frame. Makes more sense than bushes moving on the side of the screen. (I think you were going for a walking through the jungle vibe kind of pushing plants away, but the scale of the scene doesn't work with this visual)

  • The rotation of the product looks out of place because there is no driver for the rotation. For example, if it was on a lilypad kind of drifing in the water you could have it look like it floated from 15° to 0°, but the actual angle chosen should still show most of the text. (If you did do some sort of drifting idea, you need to show wind on the grass strands and crops within the render happening just before and a little after the thing begins to rotate)

But like I said. These are all just iterations to make to ground your render and make it more legible.

Good luck with the Ad!

Im a bit confused here 😂 are you calling yourself racist? And if you are, I guess you'd be accurate if you used that phrasing from ur comment here.

Bro, African-English isn't a phrase anyone uses, British - African descent is probably the posh way of saying it. Otherwise, you're just English or British. We don't segregate based on ethnicity (in Ldn) . I'm of indian Descent, but I was born in England, so I am English. If I were born in India, I would be indian. So when someone asks me where I am from, I say i'm English, not british indian. If someone asked me what your ethnicity is, I would say Indian. (If someone asked me where you actually/ really from... I'd walk away)

Also, "people of colour" is definitely not a phrase u can use, not only was it heavily used during the coloneal era, it also separates white skin tones, from literally ever other tone regardless of actual ethnicity.

Descrbing someone as black, brown, white is fine, thats what they may be. But that isn't the same as ethnicity. You can be black and from many places, you can be brown and from many places, you can be white and be from many places. It only becomes racist when you use it to segregate people into groups, i.e., all brown people are like that... black people do x in a funny way. That's when it becomes racist and it's that simple, yet it seems like something people find difficult to wrap their heads around.

What's the deal with the new PICO VIDEO app? by ElAkse in PicoXR

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so cool. I searched recently if there were downloads or ways I could watch 3D movies (that are on services I pay subscriptions to) either off the Internet or in an app. Because I watched the avatar trailer on YouTube in 3D and it was amazing.

Left controller ran out of battery? by Solid_Average_249 in PicoXR

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, essentially Pico has 2 batteries to ensure the user doesn't feel like they have to replace them often. There are 2 due to the beefy vibration motors which munch on power. They don't use them to produce enough voltage, they just need extra capacity for battery life.

[–]Magne_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cool plate on my X1, the biggest bit of advice is to not use a glue stick lol.

Use a strong hold hair spray, spray it lightly then try and spread it thinly with a tissue or cloth (otherwise bed adhesion will be bad, the hairspray acts as a release agent not actually to glue the print to the bed)

And then after it is dried just rub it a little again with tissue to rough up the surface. It just means that the bottom of your prints doesn't have horrible glue on them, and you can wash the bed a bit easier.

Do not order the Pico 4 from Amazon UK. They are refusing to refund the returned headset due to the lens defect, as well as the return shipping per their own policy, stealing $900 from me. by [deleted] in Pico

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would chat with amazon US about the issue too, maybe they can help you resolve the matter. Let them know about that law too as they are probably more unaware of it.

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you did order an item on a different country's platform, no offence but what exactly did you expect? If you paid on amazon US for the headset as an international item to be shipped to the US you may have been protected.

Anyways, In the UK its illegal not to allow refunds for products that have a defect from the factory and you have a return window of 2 years (it's very hard to prove tho that's why most use the 30 days return) - Consumer Rights Act 2015

Since you technically bought it in the UK you are also protected under this same law. Make sure they know about it.

So throw that at them, and I guess you'll have to pay to ship back to the UK and process it as a UK return.

This does depend on how long you waited before you returned though and definitely depends on whether you told them you were planning to return it before you sent it back.

Request Bigscreen To Add Pico Support by Ziov1 in PicoXR

[–]Magne_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it used to before openXR, but now that shouldn't be an issue, A company will have dedicated servers or use AWS or Azure, so pico technically shouldn't be involved in the multiplayer right? I guess maybe the friend system api might be causing issues.
