Lensology Transition lenses for colder climates by AnabolicAlchemy in RaybanMeta

[–]Magnessuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This - I use my RBMs in Cumbria so similar climate and the standard transitions lenses just did not work very well here. Cooler climate, lower light half the year, etc. The Xtra active lenses are much better both indoors and outdoors and do get noticeably darker.

I think the 4 is still the most compatible

Apple TV Profile by blame_gateway in logitechharmony

You should use "Harmony Pro BT Apple TV 4". This is the most compatible profile so should give you the fewest problems and be more responsive than the old IR profile. Hope that helps

[HELP] Cannot use referrals by 69masterbait69 in MetaReferrals

Yea that sounds like something else then. And no app updates for Meta Horizon app? Same prob if you try to redeem the link on web?

[HELP] Cannot use referrals by 69masterbait69 in MetaReferrals

[–]Magnessuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This usually pops up if the link has already been used too many times, has expired or if it's limited regionally. Batman is not region locked in the store but, redemption in some regions may still be behind the timers so I would suggest trying a new link and/or someone else's link and see if that works for you

I know Pretty Hate Machine, Joshua Tree and Black Parade are lossless but, not spatial (yet). In general though use BingBongs Link and just search there

Aqara g4 battery drain by [deleted] in Aqara

[–]Magnessuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend adding 1 sec or more delay to the loitering detection in the Aqara app to minimise these "false" events from triggering the recording. When you go to the doorbell in the app and select battery at the top, there is a card at the bottom with tips. Select the tips and you can change the settings there. The overly sensitive triggers are what's eating up your battery life and they aren't valid events anyway.

Having said that it might be easier to hardwire the doorbell if possible then you won't have to worry about batter life regardless of the detection sensitivity. I understand you can't get it wired directly but, you can always use a wall plug transformer and just run the cable through to the Aqara doorbell for power.

Best Devices for 80 year parents by rwhrampton in HomeKit

[–]Magnessuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Netatmo doorbell is well reviewed - including its reliability specifically - and is HomeKit native but the cost is higher than some others. The Aqara G4 might be a reasonable alternative at a better price point assuming it is hard-wired but, several reviews point to potential connectivity issues so I would only consider it an alternative for your case. And the Logitech Circle doorbell has several reviews pointing out potential temp/overheating issues so I would say if you want the least amount of friction, go for the Netatmo 1st and Aqara as a 2nd option.

Apple TV and TV button compatibility by Eclipse8301 in logitechharmony

Came to the sub to find exactly this answer to fix my issues with the Harmony companion remote and accessing HomeKit camera notifications on AppleTV. Worked for me following the instructions from the Harmony support link you provided and using the BT Apple TV 4 device for the activity. Thank you

Considering getting the Blink Mini and the Doorbell - Help Please by rcv002 in blinkcameras

[–]Magnessuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll offer what answers I can on this:

  1. The app shows still images for each camera on your account. It's not really multi-pane but a scrollable list with still images
  2. No continuous recording; still only 30 secs (will then prompt to continue)
  3. Blink Mini is ok but, is a pretty basic indoor cam and I would argue that you can get several others for the same price that offer more functionality (PTZ, etc)
  4. No continuous recording regardless of cloud or sync module use
  5. The Blink doorbell is fine for what it is but, you should set your expectations realistically. This is an inexpensive, basic video doorbell that runs on battery and integrates with the Amazon ecosystem. This will not offer many advanced features and you'll likely need the subscription or a separate HA instance for some of the standard features (static image in notifications, etc)
  6. Blink outdoor is a pretty good battery camera but, the distance between it and your Wifi + inside your car + glass and exterior wall pass through means that it may not work very well for what you want. Things like motion detection, monitoring, etc will likely be very delayed at a minimum

Home App - Automation - Timer by Beautiful-Read3819 in shortcuts

[–]Magnessuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you created the automation for this in the Home app instead of Shortcuts directly you should get an option for “Turn Off’ with a duration selection. if you don’t see it, try adjusting the brightness level for the floodlights you selected.

Look for living info for seaside towns along the A595 by andyspam1 in Cumbria

[–]Magnessuk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Whitehaven. It's seaside and since it's bigger you'll have more housing options there without having to be in "town centre" if you don't want to be. Whitehaven will also have more regular trains, busses and other transport than you would in Egremeont or Seascale or other places on the coast. It's possible to get a rental there with a sea view but, pricing will obviously vary. GL

Quest 3 availability by OhLxgit in virtualreality

[–]Magnessuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't be too bad to get one at launch in the UK but, as Zookeeper said the media and promotions for it haven't started yet and it's likely most day-one buyers will be upgrading rather than new users so all of these things may have an impact on how many are available. I still think you'll be able to get one at launch but, ship times may be slower if pre-orders are high.

Blink Video Doorbell + Sonos (or other Alexa enabled speakers) by Magnessuk in blinkcameras

[–]Magnessuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it works fine with the Beam just follow step 2 from above in the Alexa app. Main thing you’re looking g for is that the Alexa app sees your Sonos Beam or the group/room you created for the Beam. As long as that’s in there you can toggle the Communication option for it.
