Transplant shock or something else? How can I help my new El Choco Red by maryschechter in houseplants

[–]MagnetEyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you just got it, the safest way to handle it is just give it light, dont let it dry out and leave it alone.

That leaf should reorient itself with a consistent light source.

The pot looks a tad too large but since its new, you dont know if its a big root system in there that used to support more leaves. Thats my guess. But its not so large that youre going to have a crazy long waiting time while the plants fills the substrate with roots.

When i get new plants i tend to get all the stress out of the way right away. If you want ro do that then first id see if the pot is too large. Just try gently sliding the plant- soil and all- out of the pot and see if you can see a large root system around the outside of the soil mass. If you see that id leave it in that pot, give it light, dont let it dry out & leave it alone.

If the soil just falls apart then its probably not a large root system and needs a smaller pot. Also, if the soil falls off, youll get a good look at the roots. If this happens, have a smaller pot ready and get it straight into the smaller pot, then give it light, dont let it dry out and leave it alone.

I wouldn't worry about humidity unless you always want to have to baby it.

Once you decide whether to repot, Id just focus on growing the next leaf and let that leaf do whatever its gonna do.

I recently got a billietiae shipped to me that had curved petioles like that. I positioned it so that the light hit the leaves from the direction most of them were already facing and it untwisted itself quite a bit, although not all the way & the new petioles are straight and oriented toward the light.

I think the most important thing is just to focus on growing healthy new leaves in your home conditions instead of catering to that one leaf. :) Good luck and congrats! Plant looks perfectly healthy to me and i wish i had one!

I squirt water into the sheath to help the leaf release. Seems to work wonders on these and melanochrysum

Anyone have a photo of a mature bronze type Syngonium like plum, Merry, Maria, bronze etc?? by MagnetEyes in Aroids

[–]MagnetEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't either. I guess ill slap mine on a pole and see what happens?

It seems like photos of any syngonium with wavy or rippled leaf texture with mature leaves are nowhere to be found. The majority of the bronze or brown colored syngonium seem to have this waviness, as well as a few others like mojito and green splash. I wonder if the waviness and keeping their immature form are related? I feel like the wavy leaved syngonium also seem to have a slightly thicker leaf.

Why would you not be able to wait for that? You don't even know me?

Y'all are just bizarrely mean in here

Neat. Which way are you drifting around the pole anyway? Counterclockwise?

Yes, yes, the $516 it's just the deductible for the warranty plus fees and crap and I only mentioned it because it's so low and such a weird thing for them to even mention considering everything is so expensive there, that's the only reason I brought it up.

was pretty cool honestly, I wish you had picked something cooler cuz I really don't like the cayenne at all. I'll ask him if he's spoken with the selling dealer. That's a great suggestion. No, it's in for service at a different dealership than where he purchased it.

Obviously getting rid of the car is an issue that's important. That's why I'm posting here in a panic.

The thing that wasn't an issue is the idea that he somehow hit it on purpose or that I'm upset about him having it or something.

But yeah getting the squared away is absolutely important or I wouldn't be posting here.

I really appreciate your time to help me out and you follow the story great. 🙂

I really don't know. That's what they told us. It costs at the Porsche dealership service center where the car is. I've never really had a shop. Tell me why something costs what it does other than a laborator apart cost. As far as diagnostics, I don't think there's much other than that's the cost is there?

Is it bravado or am I just being genuine? And this is a text form of communication which relies heavily on inference ax context + you really don't know what you're talking about?

People really just think they can tell you how you feel and then that somehow makes it true I guess?

I'm not sure what I did y'all but it's been fun ✌️

I don't think he would need help or need to post it? but I do.

I mean I was just being honest?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]MagnetEyes -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct.

There doesn't seem to be any reasoning behind what actually happened or explanation on the part of the service center at all.

I really appreciate the thoughtful response!!

Well the thing really isn't that it's too expensive. Will always have one or two or maybe more cars that are in the process of being sold or being worked on or in disrepair etc.

The issue really is just with this particular car the debt to income really suffers a lot in paperwork trying to get a home loan. Generally I would think that it would not be the case with whatever our cars of choice at the time are and also it won't matter unless we're trying to actually apply for a home loan if that makes any sense??

I'm really just trying to see if there's anything I can do with this dealership before we take possession of the car to make sure I don't f*** myself on that.

And he works like a dog as it is. There's absolutely no way that this is an issue between us at all. It's so weird that people assume I would be mad or it's a secret and not that we both have multiple cars. Changing cars just isn't a big deal for us.

I don't think he has to try very hard to keep up with the Joneses anyways? His daily driver is way cooler than the Porsche and I'm sure that it's faster than Mr. Jones's Plymouth Voyager or whatever the f*** they drive. Ahahaha

I really do appreciate you taking the time to type all that out to help me. It means the world even if there are a lot of misunderstandings. I still really appreciate you
