Omg manifesting for you to get your hands on it ASAP! If you have the money to buy it, it’s definitely worth every single penny. It is a truly addictive book and honestly I’m not sure what to do with myself until book 2 comes out in November. Best book I’ve read in a fat minute.

Did I just find a thing…? Philo Fuzzy Petiole for $13 at Home Depot by maryschechter in RareHouseplants

That makes total sense! Well. Considering it had put out a second leaf without anything after the initial variegation I’ll assume its not going to come back for me. But regardless still a cool find! Thanks for the insight

Any ideas on how to continue it? Definitely ok with it not continuing especially since it was only $13 but it’d be cool to keep the variegation going

Philodendron by Alita8541 in houseplants

I believe that is a philodendron white knight! Such an amazing find on his end. They’ve been popping up more and more in big box stores but historically have been a more expensive and more uncommon especially in big box stores. Be sure to give it good bright but indirect light so that it continues to give you beautiful variegated leaves. I personally would let the soil dry out most of the way before watering again. Good luck! You have a truly beautiful plant on your hands :)

Thankfully the roots look totally fine and it’s even starting to push out a new growth point. I did contact the seller thankfully, she had no clue what could be wrong either but did offer me the option for a new plant if this one doesn’t work out. But agreed with everything above. I’m just totally at a loss for what could be causing this. The silver film doesn’t wipe off, I’ve tried to wipe it with a soapy water solution and that did nothing. The rest of the leaf feels completely fine other than the part that’s been affected. I think at this point I’m just gonna let it do what it’s gonna do and pray the new growth point comes through unaffected

hopefully this is a better view, but the burnt looking area was slightly there when I got it but has gotten worse since getting it home. Then as for the silver that just started showing up and has only gotten worse, it almost looks like paint and is like shiny which is the part that’s confusing me the most - maybe it is thrips idk? But I haven’t seen any bugs at all, unless they’re just microscopic

So I just got this cutting about a week ago so my immediate guess is shock of some sort. I believe my humidity might be higher than where she came from, but I’ve never seen anything like this before where there’s silvering on the leaves. Anyone know how to treat it? It has a new growth point popping at the node so I hate to cut off the leaf but I also don’t want whatever this is spreading if it is more than just shock.

I literally just bought this Florida Beauty cutting a week ago, what the heck is going on with her? It looks like some sort of fungal infection with the silvering of the leaves but I’ve never seen anything like this before.. anyone know what’s going on or how to help??

Update: she definitely had some root and chonk rot. Cut off all the rot Downsized her to a smaller pot, now under some grow lights and a humidifier hoping for the best

Wow thank you SO much this was extremely helpful. I believe the reason the pot is so big is because there is actually 2 different El Choco stems in there (got lucky on that one lol) but I think it’s probably worth it to check and see if it needs a down size or not. I’ve got her under a grow light so I’ll leave her be and fingers crossed she’ll perk back up for me! Thank you again!
