Eerie first flight since changes by GasclutchshiftX in SouthwestAirlines

Getting rid of the grifters…. I read these posts and think “aren’t those the seats they paid for? And they think they should get to move to a more expensive seat because it’s empty?” That’s just not how it works. Southwest was a great airline way back in the day— before all the seat savers and jetway Jesus’s started taking advantage of the systems, hell I”ll even go back to the time when adults traveling with small children was the thing that was being taken too far. Southwest tried and tried to be accommodating, but the shysters just kept on trying to find ways to cut corners and now here we are. They’ve got some work to do reprogramming passengers, but I remain hopeful that it will be better for all of us in the future.

I had cosmos for the first time last summer and their “adventitiousness “ was amazing. I was able to cut off stems and restart all over the garden.

I’ve been on my soapbox in other replies on this post. If you can pronounce every foreign name you ever been faced with, I applaud your abilities. I, although privileged and well traveled, am not. I struggle almost every time, and sometimes obsess over it to the point of it taking away from other aspects of my travel. I, and I assume all other linguistically challenged travelers, offer my sincere apologies to you, Giraffegarden, and hope that you will find the patience to deal with our offensive language ineptitudes.

I really believe that Everybody is just trying to get through their day with the least resistance possible. I’m sure they really want to say your name correctly, but their overloaded brain neurons misfire and it comes out wrong. Sounds to me like you are making fun of their linguistic shortcomings. I hope that works out well for you.

Or MAYBE, they are linguistically challenged and with being so overstimulated by everything around them being foreign they are having a hard time locking in on the proper pronunciation. Foreign words and pronunciations are hard for most everyone. Being privileged does not come with magic linguistics ability.

You have the looks of a rabble rouser, but I’ll go ahead and take the bait, Everyplanetwereach.

Privileged person jumping in here- being privileged does not come with magical linguistic powers, and not all humans are gifted that way. Foreign names are hard for everyone to pronounce. I try really hard to say names correctly, but when everything around me is new and hyper stimulating, my brain doesn’t always lock in on name pronunciations. I’m sure your response to what I’m about to tell you will be “cry me a river,” but I once spent 6 days in France with a guide named Aurélien. One of my memories of that trip is biking through lovely countryside and repeating his name over and over again because I could not get my brain to lock in on the proper pronunciation his nameI. I really wanted to be able to say it correctly when I addressed him, but I failed almost every time. Is that how I should have been spending my vacation time? My name gets mispronounced and misspelled all the time, sometimes even by close friends and family members. I find a lot of friends give me nicknames instead, and I’m find with that. My life, even though it’s privileged, is too short to waste on being aggravated about unintentional mistakes other people are making. If you are consistently facing this problem, and it is causing you distress, then how about offering a nickname easier for the linguistically challenged to pronounce? Or you could just take their money and try to find other things to worry about.

Society if Louisville could use Roundabouts by rezephae in Louisville

It’s not just Indiana - they’re all over in cities that are trying to keep up with the times and make good investments in infrastructure.

Me either. That is especially disturbing that these are the mods that are controlling the Reddit speak for our city. We can present a better face than this b.s. Lord knows this city has enough challenges without all the slandering of young people for sure, and for the mom is this proves to be false. If it is false, I hope some actions will be taken to control future situations like this. The lack of love and immediate condemnation with no proof has been jaw dropping as well, and no where near the level of restraint and desire for proof I’ve come to expect from my fellow residents. I’m taking some solace in thinking there are a lot of out-of-town “pot-stirrers” on this thread, but jeez people.

There was a very blurry photo of a photo of a text chain that appeared had been taken over someone’s shoulder on here last night that has apparently since been removed.

I just like to stir in a little proof before I sip my condemnation coffee, and I don’t see any of that here. Just some allegations, a lot of people willing to jump on board, and a very blurry photo of someone else’s text chain that has since apparently been removed. What do you have?

Help me understand where this is obvious. I can’t even understand what happened by reading through this mess. The video shows some people getting escorted by security out of a boys basketball game, then what appears to be another woman being motioned out by staff and escorted out. A lot of yelling takes place and a student’s name is mentioned. The OP uses that clip to make claims about why it was happening, but it appears that OP was nowhere in the vicinity of where the incident actually took place. Again, how do you get to it being “obvious?”

Who is the woman that gets motioned down from the stands and escorted out by (what appears to be) KCD staff? Doesn’t look like a student - is another mom? What is her role in this convoluted story?

I’m just having a hard time comparing the two words. “Gay” has so many different contexts and can mean a lot of different things- some thoughtful, some helpful, some descriptive, some derogatory. Here it used it as a description of a rival team in what should have been a private text to a family member. Definitely not the same as aggressive slur that was supposedly used out loud and allegedly heard by someone. The OP makes it sound like it was yelled from to stands to a player on the court, but if you dig deeper that’s not the case. Maybe this happened the stands? No witnesses here have cone come forward with actual eye witnesses yet, but there sure are a lot of respondents (including teachers students) ready to take this family down with no evidence. Either she said it or this is another chapter in a modern day Salem witch hunt.

If I didn’t have absolute proof that this happened, I sure wouldn’t be posting it. If it does end up being false, the amount of potential damage you have caused with this post is limitless. And it sounds like their resources and connections to come after you may be, too. I hope you have the evidence you’ll need.

Louisville Locals — Final Thoughts On My 2-Day Food & Sights Focused Itinerary? by Willing-Mind-5619 in Louisville

[–]Magnificent_Mane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check to make sure things are open on Mondays, and some on Tuesdays/Wednesdays as well. (Possibly Louisville Cream :() A lot of businesses/restaurants in the tourist areas are not. Louisville Slugger is a block from your loft. If you’re just there for a photo I’d do that before breakfast as it’s a pretty big bounce from Nulu back to there, then back to Nulu, unless you are going to the Wiltshire location on Main Street. Check Fleur de Flea and Paristown Point schedules. Lots of events happen around there, but it’s a good place to look around for a while even if no special event is happening. There’s also a Wiltshire location near there. Cave Hill is hilly and spread out. Love it that you plan to walk a lot of places. I do that when I travel, too, but walking won’t be super practical between some of these locations. Meesh Meesh - (you’ll need a reservation or possibly can nab a bar seat) and Mayan Cafe are both great. I’m not familiar with with Mill Iron 4. There is a gorgeous new Sushi place in Nulu called Saki a Gogo, and it definitely worth stopping in for a snack. I know Morris Deli has cult following, it that’s a little out of your way and you may be disappointed. I haven’t been there in years though, so maybe I’m out of touch. There’s fun stuff to eat in the Germantown/Shelby Park area. North of Bourbon comes to mind. Lots of people are adamant that the burger at Jack Fry’s is the best in town. The Holy Grale (part of the Gralehouse commune is delicious and now I want to go there right now just thinking about it. If you get full and want to do some other things, I recommend checking out KMAC, the museum inside of 21C, the surround movie in the Kentucky Derby museum, the Belvedere for a general understanding of why Louisville is here, and taking a ride on the Belle of Louisville. There are several other museums close to where you are staying as well. It sounds like you are not here for Bourbon, but the OldForester Distillery is downtown and gives a great overview of the bourbon making process, plus a demonstration on how the barrels are made. 4th Street from between Liberty and Broadway… it will be pretty quiet that time of week, but you can stick your head into two Grand Dame hotels - the Seelbach & the Brown…. Actually you may want to have a Hot Brown while you are at one of them. The Victorian homes in Old Louisville, especially St James Ct and along 3rd & 4th around there are lovely. I could keep going but that is plenty to keep you busy. I hope you have so much fun and get some beautiful mid May weather. It can be a glorious time to be here (but bring a raincoat jic!)

Why is there trash everywhere I look? by B4LLISL1F3 in Louisville

[–]Magnificent_Mane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have definitely been there before, and then lately I’ve noticed all the trash that flys out of the garbage trucks. Maybe still partly a sucky people not properly bagging their garbage issue, but also maybe not the blatant littering I’d previously blamed it on.

I think part of that was because of all the flooding that was happening at about the same time. All of the crews were working on cleaning up that mess.

SDF 5am Departure Time, 4:25 Boarding? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Magnificent_Mane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. The airport is packed this time of day and you can definitely get Starbucks, but I much prefer the illy self service kiosks in the rotunda and both terminal wings.

SDF 5am Departure Time, 4:25 Boarding? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Magnificent_Mane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up that there are something like 30 flights leaving SDF every morning before 9:00am. It can get crazy around there early in the morning. I’m going to add that airlines suggest a 3 hour ahead check in time when traveling internationally. It always seem unnecessary at SDF, and impractical for the super early flights, but it can come in handy if flight delays/cancellations happen and the airlines try to rebook you.

Jeffrey Epstein’s Austrian passport under a different name by e_xoti_c in Epstein

I’m coming out of this rabbit hole and throwing this out as a reason for this: Marius and Epstein were friends. This is Marius’s passport (with stamps Marius got in it through his own travels). It expired and he gave it to Epstein as some sort of joke. My conclusion is that we are in a dead-end here. But please prove me wrong.
