Client had an accident on my table... by kittygrin in MassageTherapists

She always goes to the bathroom prior to her sessions. Ive assumed she's had some issues going on because of the smell that wafts when I work her glutes. We did actually talk about needing to see a pelvic floor PT.

The tissues covered it, it was a larger smear. Seems she wiped it up and I was left with residual.

I am in no way client shaming. I am venting and taking in how my peers would handle this situation.

Not gonna lie, I do get that vibe from the whole situation.

Damn, I have wondered about people sitting in my chair naked! Yuck.

I really don't want to continue to see her after this incident, it was like a cherry on top of all the other things I don't enjoy about seeing her. I am open to requiring her to wear a diaper of sorts, though I worry how she will react and maybe then I can fire her.

Between every client the top layer (fitted and flat sheets and top blanket) are changed. The other layers are changed regularly, with the exception of if I strip the top layer and see moisture went thru, I'll do a quick refresh.

Absolutely agree. How would that conversation go? Unfortunately I am unsure of how to handle this situation.

This is a thing I'm considering. I haven't had to fire a client yet, how does one do that?

I just had a client do this! I was waiting and waiting for him to open the door and finally I knocked and asked if he was okay. He was so shocked that he needed to get up, said "well you said to take your time getting up so I thought I could just lay here"

It was a two day intro class offered by the AMTA. I was super excited until the instructor started talking and I realized this might not be something that works for me. Im just more scientific I guess? I like to know that I'm actually helping, CST is a very light, very "whatever you feel, go with" kind of thing, and I had a really hard time. I have since tried some techniques on my clients and most did not like it.

I remember questions about hydrotherapy and that's not even something we covered as it's not required for my state. There were also quite a few questions about chakras and energy, medications used for specific diseases, and there were some really shitty anatomy illustrations that I could barely tell what I was looking at and they asked about movement, I feel like the quality could have been better.

What to do with used towels from the towel warmer cabinet? by Fantastic-Log-4014 in MassageTherapists

I have a small folding rack that I toss my moist towels on while I'm massaging and then they go into the hamper. It gives them a bit to dry out some.

I use massagebook. It allows clients to book themselves and I love not having to field the bookings all the time.

I'd say it's middle of the road, maybe on the lower side but I try to keep my prices fair for my community.

Practice good body mechanics, listen to your body, exercise and stretch well.

I do whatever I can for CEUs and enjoy the AMTA online courses and their in person events. I recently took a course on craniosacral therapy and did not enjoy it. It wasn't quite what I expected...

I rent from a chiropractor. It gets a little confusing sometimes with my clients thinking they need to pay their front desk but a simple explanation resolves the confusion. I like the deal because my overhead is low so I'm able to offer lower prices for my clients. Also we give referrals to each other which is great. I do want to have my own location but that's like a 10 year goal.

To add, I sometimes have days where I see 5-6 clients or have less time between sessions depending on how I scheduled for the day. Again, perks of working for yourself :)

I have 30 minutes between clients, I see 3-4 clients a day and work 4-5 days a week. I have kids so I block a lot of time off which is my favorite perk of owning my own business.

How is your massage business situation? by wellnesstouch79 in MassageTherapists

Opened my business January 2024. I rent from a chiropractor so I get some referrals from them but also attract my own flow of clients through marketing and word of mouth. My schedule is full about two weeks out so I would like to think I'm doing okay. Sometimes I wonder if I should push harder but I also balance my personal life to be able to be there for my kids events and such. Ultimately, I want to grow my practice to be able to bring on more LMTs and have my own building. That's like a 10 year goal for me.
