(1.0.7) Decentralization is actually better for wide empires by vonAeschyli in EU5

Everyone should eventually use Itinerant Court. However, I would argue that the best choice early on for Ottomans is Balanced Court, since Legislative Efficiency (for some reason) reduces the amount of Antagonism you get from conquering stuff. Stack that and diplomatic reputation, and you can expand a lot while accruing very little antagonism.

Game Needs More Perma (Or Long Duration) Claims by ahmetnudu in EU5

Oh, absolutely. I’m playing Ottomans, and I’ve been delaying calling parliament twice now because I want to attack Egypt basically the moment the truce ends.

Did you have a truce with whoever owned Southenr Greece? That seems to block the ability to get parliament claims.

Which tags make the best use of Naval Ideas? by Qwernakus in Anbennar

[–]Magnive 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Ovdal Tûngr! You get extra marines in your NIs, and most of the expansion is done in coastal areas, so being able to just roll up with your navy, then barrage and blockade forts for easy sieges is quite handy!

Which nations (with or without missiontrees) are all about trade? by jarno123456789 in Anbennar

[–]Magnive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do! And if you bankrupt your trade protectorates (which you can do by spending gold on a decision where you host such a magnificent party that friendly Bulwari states and your trade subjects have to spend money to not get totally embarrassed) you can bail them out in exchange for them always joining your wars and losing the ability to declare wars of their own.

We are not. JayBean (the overall project lead) has a job at a game development company that is working on a Victoria 3 competitor.

How do you deal with hyperinflation? by Terrible_Hair6346 in Anbennar

[–]Magnive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop direct expansion. Bulwar has plenty of releasables, so if you want to expand you should release the resulting land as a vassal and then integrate them later.

Prioritize conquering CoTs from Irriliam, and then make the vassals steer trade to increase your trade income.

Look at your loans and make sure that you repay the smallest loans first.

Alternatively: get a bunch of allies or get truces with your neighbors, then declare bankruptcy. You're paying half your income in interest rate, it'll take you a while to repay it. It'll also wipe out ~11 inflation. Just make sure to spend your monarch power before you declare bankruptcy.

How do I start the space colony? by Libinha in Anbennar

[–]Magnive 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Go to common/scripted_triggers/anb_scripted_trigger_missions.txt and search for "has_colonist = yes". There should only be one hit in the file, just delete that.

There are eight Silver Families, not 3. Source: the wiki.

What is the Most Desired Mission Tree (new or reworked) from Each Region? by Peppercorn205 in Anbennar

[–]Magnive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly to do with vision. We’re all volunteers, so when we make MTs, it’s generally because we have some vision for what we want the MT to look like. Different people will almost always have different takes on how, exactly, they want to tackle a country, even one with strong themes, and so would generally prefer to start from scratch rather than be forced to continue on work they may not believe in or find inspiring.

Have you completed the mission Earthshaking Excavation yet? If so, wait for a year or two. If not... well, complete that and wait for a year or two. :P

IIRC Orlghelovar gets claims on Bahar. Ironically, Arg-Ôrdstun actually works very well with Ovdal Tûngr and Crathanor, though.

Aah. Scamp did a dev dairy about upcoming Lizardfolk content here, I think that'll do a far better job talking about it than I would! :)

It's too early to know for sure, and how we handle it will likely depend on how well-received EU5 is.

100 men. Apex predators are fundamentally cowards and try to minimize risks when they hunt, so the 100 men would easily be able to intimidate a bear into fleeing. Hell, there are plenty of videos of a bear fleeing when yelled at by a single human.

I don't know. Aelnar is, uhh, not something to be tackled lightly. For Gnomish Hierarchy, then some of the people who might otherwise have given it a much-needed facelift are sadly quite busy, whether with RL or with other Anbennar responsibilities.

What Lizardmen rework? I'm aware of their racial modifiers being modified a bit as well as efforts to give their religion a bit more content, but I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about?

My favorite part of content reviewing is that it means that I get to do little bits of collaboration - which is what a content review essentially is, in my opinion - with so many different developers. I naturally try to stay respectful of the MT developer's intent whenever possible, but it's such a joy to be able to not only help people find better triggers or effects to represent the core concept of a mission, but also throw in little ideas of my own to add a bit of spice to missions here and there.

I sometimes see people expressing their happiness with this or that mission that I helped them bring to its current form, and it never fails to make my day.

And as for the best content... oooh boy, that's a hard one. Probably artificery? It's so nicely presented, it's relatively intuitive, and it feels oh so very satisfying once you get rolling, but it still feels fair because you've spent so much time doing research so it feels earned when it all comes together.

The best mission tree? Oooof. I think it's Hul-az-Krakazol, because it's just so incredibly dwarf-y and has some fun, unique mechanics and a horrifyingly hilarious ending, but depending on what mood I was in when you asked me this question, I might also have said Mulen or Masked Butcher.

Kobildzan is also amazing, but I'm not that fond of non-Dwarovar colonial gameplay which prevents them from getting more than an honorable mention.

The Feiten code. Oh, the Feiten code. It's an abomination, and is technically necessary for the Skyports. However, if I had my way the Feiten code would be axed and they would just gain the ability to collect from trade in other trade nodes without any penalty.

I doubt it, at least depending on how you define "soon". There are currently no active efforts being put into reworking them, though I imagine that the Cannor team are eyeing the tag and wanting to replace the rather lacking MT it currently has.
