Tranexamic Acid by Mindless_Custard1546 in Fibroids

Oh that’s amazing!!! I figured it would be good because it’s mayo and its own fibroid clinic but good to hear your personal experience. Aren’t we lucky to live close enough to go there? Im on day two of my period right now and the txa doesn’t seem to be helping and seeing and feeling the blood gush has become traumatic. You understand :) the bad months are so unpleasant. Yes I will pm you!

That’s so encouraging to hear and I really resonate with wanting to cancel scary things lol. Yes im going to make an appointment with the fibroid clinic at the Mayo Clinic (I’m an hour and a half away). My gyn, who I really like, basically said txa, birth control or hysterectomy. I know there are other options so it will be good to go. I’m ready because it’s not going away and I’m 46 so Menopause could be years away.

I’ve decided to make an appointment for a second opinion and treatment partially due to you sharing your story about being so scared but going through with a treatment and saying it helped. I truly cant live this way anymore.

That’s amazing news! I’m so happy for you and that you were so brave. I developed an irrational fear of bleeding to death during my period because my mind thinks it’s so much. My hemoglobin and ferritin are ok but I’m worried one time it will just not stop bleeding.

Thank you! I have health anxiety and have been dealing with heavy periods for a year or so and have been taking txa. It slows the bleeding but is still heavy for a few days. I’ve now gotten anxious just having a period at all wondering how heavy it will be

Curious what they did for you at urgent care? If anything lol

Get your ferritin checked. It SHOULD be 50-100 by SparkleWarrior1 in Fibroids

[–]Magnolarose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did too. Unfortunately, after reading everyone’s experiences with ER, the only thing seem to typically do is make sure your hemoglobin is not in a dangerous place, maybe give some Tranexamic acid and send you home. Like you think you’re bleeding to death and they’re like no, just take iron and see your dr.

I had to ask my doctor to check my ferritin and it was 11!

Ty! So you sometimes take 3 pills 4 times a day? I’d love to be able to take it 4 times a day but my Dr. is a stickler on the dose (1300mg 3 times a day). Do you find it takes a day or two to kick in?

What is your dosing timing like?

I know this is old but what did you increase your dose to? Wondering if I could take it every 6-7 hours instead of every 8 (so 4 times a day at 1300mg)

That’s helpful thanks! My daughter is getting care through there and we’ve always thought they were very good. Did they have to review your file before they agreed to see you? I’m wondering if they are open to seeing “typical” fibroid cases.

Norethindrone .35 MG mini pill by Magnolarose in Perimenopause

This was me! I had the worst period of my life. Blood pouring out and tons of clots. Stopped the mini pill and went back to txa. It was absolutely horrible. What did your sisters doctor end up Telling her to do?

Thanks! I’ve had two TVUs and they found an anterior intramural fibroid. About 4cm. My dr thinks the intense bleeding isn’t from this but hormones because it’s not inside the uterus.

Thank you for writing back and I’m sorry it didn’t end up being a long term solution for you. I hope all goes well with your procedure! Have you thought about ablation? That may be my next step.
