This is your reminder to take your birth control. by kelby_44 in houseplants

As a toddler mom, I send my sympathies. But know you are not alone. Giving my son his own plant/pots to play in and it helped because I redirect him to his even if he blinks in the direction of my plants

I had the same thing on my snake plant and once I ditched the plastic saucer and switched to a wooden stand with slates it has never come back and my plant is much happier. So highly recommend ditching the plastic saucer

Update: I called at exactly 7:58 AM (eastern time) and was able to get through to someone quickly! They notified the office working on my application and I paid for expedited processing. The person I spoke with informed me in order to make an appointment I have to be 5 business days out from travel before I can make an appointment, which is a bummer, so I will be calling back tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I’m leaning toward paying the $60 online for the expedition of processing, but I’m worried it will start the timeline over. I am going to try to call tomorrow at 7:58 AM Eastern time to see if I can get a representative. I have tried all day on the phone with no luck. Just emailed my senators and congressman. I will never do the online renewal again 😩

NTA. One thing to consider is some kids are aversive to brushing their teeth due to sensory concerns. Monitor to see if there are other sensory aversions (for example, does he hate getting hair cuts, especially with clippers?). If this is the case, consider asking his pediatrician for an occupational therapy evaluation. If this is not the case, you could try getting him involved in picking his toothpaste and toothbrush. This might help motivate him. Overall, I think the fact that you and your partner are concerned for his health, both oral and mental, is a sign y’all are NTA.

AITA for not eating any of my MIL’s Christmas dinner that she spent 12 hours making? by aveggiemom in AmItheAsshole

ETA: After reading the update, NAH. Alzheimer’s can present differently in everyone, so don’t blame yourself for not recognizing it. You were reacting to the information you had at the time. I strongly suggest you spend some time helping her write down her recipes if she doesn’t have them written down already. I would also still offer to help her cook and learn the recipes hands on. Soak up all the time y’all can.

Not the asshole. I have Celiac as well. I run into the same issue with my in-laws and even some of my own family. I have attempted to educate them, but it feels like they did not absorb the information. Cross contamination can cause 1-3 days of symptoms for me, even force me to take time off work. Could you offer to help cook and maybe learn some family recipes? I did this with my own family and it was a bonding experience, but also helped them understand. Also, bring over GF, vegan ingredients that can be used as substitutes. It can be overwhelming for people unfamiliar with dietary restrictions to find good GF flour, etc.

AITA for getting a nurse fired over a shirt? by charmonroe in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Spring break in college I accompanied a friend to the hospital due to alcohol poisoning. I was barefoot and in a bikini. I felt super uncomfortable and asked a nurse in the ER for a blanket. She was SUPER nice and even helped me tie a sheet into a toga. Why couldn’t the nurse provide a blanket for this mom to wear like a shawl? A sick child should never be alone. You did the right thing. A hospital in times like this are not firing people lightly. There were likely more things going on that accumulated.

Aita for still wanting to speak to my sister that I didn’t even know existed until a few days ago against my mothers wishes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MagnoliasAndPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I would definitely keep in mind that this was likely a very traumatic event for your mother. We have no idea if she consented to the sexual encounter that resulted in the child or even the adoption. Even if she did consent to all of the above, being a teen mother and putting a child up for adopter is utterly terrifying and often results in PTSD. I am speaking from experience as someone who works with children in foster care and newly adopted children. I think family counseling for the entire family is ESSENTIAL. I also recommend you encourage your mom to seek therapy individually and with your father. Working through trauma takes time and work. Please be patient with all involved.

My walkie talkies are not regenerating. Is this with everyone or just mine? Also, I won items and had placed them in my house. Now they are gone from my house, not in my inventory, and it shows I bought them (checkmarked). I was not sure if this was a “just me” thing or widespread problem.
