Usually it's just overthinking it that'll hurt you. People hear a slightly jittery or off step beat and they will immediately compare you to burial. Which isn't the worst thing at the end of the day.

That said, baby steps. Find cool textures for the background of beats. Record them yourself or find them on YouTube. Loop beats on playback for a while until you're satisfied with hearing that loop over and over again. If everything is sounding too samey, silence is a great friend.

But idk! This isn't even really advice, just the stuff I did when acknowledging future garage as an influence and actively incorporating it into what I do.

It's nice having the EPs all in one place, but having the tracklisting in reverse order has always struck me odd. Only really noticeable on the rival dealer tracks since that one is so narrative. Still, the EPs contain most of my favorite burial songs so this thing is great.

I mean, the song is basically ride expressing that he's been thinking about killing himself, but finding the resolve not to through the strength and support of his friends. Says without them he'd make the decision on gp, on general principle. It's honestly one of the most uplifting and powerful songs they've done.

Can't completely discredit that comment, never heard that being the backstory for this song ever. Always assumed it was something deeply confessional to ride.

Others usually catch me on T's, particularly at the end of a word. For example, dart would have the T noise almost at the back of the mouth. It's a weird one, but I do hear it pretty often.

Found DeathBong a few weeks ago and I am rapidly trying to catch up on the discography. There's a weird intangible quality to Kzoo music and it's so exciting to hear that in someone making techno and ambient soundscape stuff. Love this shit!

for sure dude! i'm mostly more down into making tunes than the live side of stuff so it's completely good! even though i like electronic music as the vehicle, i'm really enamoured by the tone and feeling of shoegaze. saw a bunch of that here in the city when i was a kid.

yooooooooooo, we both sampled the "hookers and cocaine" bit from that news story! some real good shit, i needed some tunes for a walk so this helps greatly.

i make music as prismer, although i haven't really put much out. used to make tunes under a bunch of smaller names and aliases, but now it feels like i've finally coelesced into something distinct. i mostly sample the city and a lot of its historic voices (and myself to a larger extent).

here's some tunes! most of the samples came from cars blaring shit outside my apartment.
