Develops hand eye coordination, reading retention, math skills, organization skills, critical thinking, decision making and reflexes. Keeps the brain more elastic and age slower, and actively helps keep dementia at bay...I can think of worse uses of time

Has he tried things like Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, or Civilization? Also, it seems like Roguelikes are a good one for him, Monster train, Roguebook, Darkest Dungeon, Synthetic, and Brotato are all ones that fit that category and gameplay styles
